A local man being sought on a battery warrant for allegedly hitting his wife earlier this month was arrested Wednesday after he returned to her apartment despite a court order.

Randolph Barlow, 54, who lists “city streets” as his address, was taken into custody shortly before 5:30 p.m. at the victim’s apartment on Manor Circle and charged with misdemeanor counts of third-degree domestic battery and violation of a protection order, each punishable by up to one year in jail.

He was still being held without bond Thursday and is set to appear Jan. 31 in district court.

According to the original affidavit, on Jan. 5, shortly after 3:30 p.m., the victim states she was at her apartment when her husband, identified as Barlow, struck her on the right side of her nose causing swelling and redness.

The victim told responding officers she didn’t remember exactly how the injury occurred, but she was having trouble seeing clearly so she was transported by LifeNet to CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs for treatment.

She later said she thought Barlow had hit her accidentally, but due to the swelling, the injury being near her eye and the fact she reportedly admitted Barlow drinks and gets angry often, officer felt there was cause to believe the incident was “reckless” on the part of Barlow so a warrant was issued.

On Wednesday, shortly after 5 p.m., officers responded to the victim’s apartment again regarding a disturbance and made contact with the victim who stated she and Barlow were having an argument. A computer check revealed the victim had obtained a protection order against Barlow who was taken into custody without incident.
