Governor reappoints Whipple to HSU board
ARKADELPHIA — Ross Whipple, of Arkadelphia, has been reappointed to the Henderson State University Board of Trustees by Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson.
Whipple has served on the board since 1996. His new term expires in January 2024.
He graduated from Henderson in 1973 with a bachelor of science degree in business administration. He then earned his Master of Business Administration degree in 1976 at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
Whipple was the founder of Summit Bank Inc. and served as chairman and chief executive officer. He currently serves as a director for Bank of the Ozarks.
An active member of the Arkadelphia community for most of his life, Whipple serves on the board of the Henderson Foundation, the Arkansas Forestry Association, Clark County Industrial Council, Economic Development Corporation of Clark County, UAMS Foundation and University of Arkansas Steering Committee.
Whipple is chair of the Ross Foundation and president of Horizon Timber services. He serves as general partner of Horizon Capital Partners.
Henderson honored Whipple in 2002 as a Distinguished Alumnus. He was inducted into the Henderson School of Business Hall of Fame in 2005.
