Jessievill­e, CMS (19-0) win on road

GLEN ROSE — Trailing 15-12 at halftime and holding a slim 27-26 lead after three quarters, Jessievill­e outscored Glen Rose 15-0 in the fourth quarter to win 41-27 here Thursday night.

Alex Burleson scored a game-high 19 points, grabbed four rebounds and dished out three assists for the Lions. Sawyer Lamb added eight points and six rebounds, converting on

six of eight free throws.

Grant Jones paced the Beavers with 16 points. Jessievill­e (13-6, 8-1) plays Fountain Lake at Bass Gymnasium.

Jessievill­e won the varsity girls’ game against Glen Rose 43-30, improving to 16-3 overall and 9-0 in the conference.

* Unbeaten Cutter Morning Star’s senior boys outscored host Maumelle Charter 28-4 in the first quarter and rolled to a 75-52 victory Thursday night, its 19th of the season. The Eagles led 45-22 at halftime and 59-37 after three quarters, sweeping the season series after trouncing Maumelle Charter 76-25 at CMS last month.

* Lakeside’s junior girls downed Magnolia 40-20, the Lady Rams’ 16th win in 19 games. It was 24-6 at halftime and 36-11 after three quarters.

* Fountain Lake’s junior girls outscored Arkadelphi­a 13-0 in the first quarter and won 32-21 Thursday.

Presley Hamric had nine points and Karli Bryant six for the Lady Cobras (11-5), who play Glen Rose today. Fountain Lake led Arkadelphi­a 19-8 at halftime and 27-16 after three quarters.

Arkadelphi­a outscored Fountain Lake 12-2 in the second overtime period to win the junior boys’ game 48-38. Marcus Needles and Andrew Overton each had 15 points for Fountain Lake (8-9). The game was 34-all after regulation and 36-36 after the first overtime period.

* Hot Springs’ junior girls routed Camden Fairview 39-16 Thursday night, improving to 154. Keindia Nevels and Jaylia Reed led the Lady Trojans with nine points each. Nevels added eight rebounds, six steals and six assists. Jurnee Hicks had six points and Markiah Meadows and Allie Clark for each for Hot Springs, which plays at Pine Bluff on Monday.

* Lake Hamilton’s junior girls lost to visiting Bryant 34-24 Thursday night at Wolf Arena. Bryant led 22-13 at halftime and 29-20 after three quarters. Lady Wolf Hayleigh Wyrick led all scorers with 16 points.

UALR women take first place in SBC

LITTLE ROCK — Surviving a third-quarter run by Troy, UALR held on for a 77-74 victory Thursday night at Jack Stephens Center, staying undefeated in the Sun Belt Conference and taking over sole possession of first place.

Kaitlyn Pratt led with 20 points and added five rebounds for the Trojans (12-6 overall, 6-0 SBC). Kyra Collier scored 14 points and just missed a triple-double with nine rebounds and nine assists. Sharde’ Collins added 16 points and Ronjanne DeGray 13 for UALR.

The Trojans scored six consecutiv­e points after Troy went up 67-66 — DeGray with a layup, Collins with a jumper and Collier with a layup.

UALR led 42-32 at halftime behind 16 points from Pratt, eight away from her career single-game high. Troy fought back in the third quarter, closing the period on an 11-2 run for a 57-56 lead.

The Trojans remain at home for a 4 p.m. game today against South Alabama.

Golden Suns triumph over Reddies at home

RUSSELLVIL­LE — Arkansas Tech took charge in the second half and edged Henderson State 68-62 Thursday at Tucker Coliseum in a Great American Conference women’s game.

Led by Hailey Estes, Henderson went on a 12-4 run that tied the score at 59. Calli White responded with a three-point basket for Arkansas Tech, Anissa Pounds following with a layup to put the Golden Suns back up by five. Torrie Thompson’s three-point basket made it a three-point game with under a minute to play before Tech held off the Reddies’ charge.

Haleigh Henson, Thompson and Estes finished with 13 points each and Pink Jones with 11 for Henderson (7-9 overall, 7-3 GAC). The Reddies led 43-39 before Tech went up by eight on a 16-4 run.

Tech (12-2, 8-2) also enjoyed balanced scoring with Cheyenne North recording a double-double of 15 points and 17 rebounds. Pounds, Danielle Franchiseu­r and Kelsey McClure each scored 14 for the Golden Suns, Frachiseur with nine rebounds as Tech won the board battle 53-34.

Henderson plays Harding at 1 p.m. today at Wells Center in Arkadelphi­a. The Reddies are 3-3 since the holiday break.

* Arkansas Tech won the men’s game against Henderson 83-69, shooting 55 percent from the floor with 10 three-pointers.

Grant Prusator made six treys for the top three-point shooting team in the league and led Tech (10-4, 6-4) with 24 points.

Kaylon Tappin, Kevin Kozan and Brad Nairn each had 12 points for Henderson (115, 6-4) and Ben Marello added 11.

Cotton Blossoms stop OBU on road

ARKADELPHI­A — Arkansas-Monticello outscored Ouachita Baptist by 18 points in the middle quarters and won 74-67 Thursday at Vining Arena in Great American Conference women’s action.

The Blossoms surged ahead 37-31 by halftime and took their largest lead at 16 points in the fourth quarter. OBU’s Lady Tigers led 21-13 after the first quarter but were outscored 17-8 and 24-15 in the middle rounds.

Going eight for 17 from the field, hitting four of six three-point attempts, Ayeshia Ward led UAM with 21 points. Neisha Peterson added 17 points and Taylor Collins 13 for the Cotton Blossoms (7-7 overall, 4-6 GAC), who made five of seven three-point attempts in the second half and finished at 67 percent behind the arc.

Madison Brittain scored 17 points, Bria Caldwell 13 and Chasidee Owens 11 to pace OBU (7-9, 4-6 GAC). Lake Hamilton junior Kori Bullard went 1-for-8 from the field and scored three points for the Tigers.

OBU has lost four in a row, the last three at home, entering today’s 1 p.m. game at Southern Arkansas (Magnolia). The Tigers’ next home game is Feb. 2 against East Central in a 5:30 p.m. start at Vining Arena.
