Man arrested for allegedly attacking father-in-law
A Hot Springs man was arrested early Wednesday after allegedly throwing his fatherin-law into a wall.
Craig Ray Medeiros, 32, who lists a Long Beach Drive address, was taken into custody just after midnight and charged with first-degree assault on a family or household member, a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail, and public intoxication, a misdemeanor punishable by up to 30 days in jail.
He was later released on a $1,500 bond and is set to appear in Garland County District Court March 13.
According to the affidavit, just before midnight Tuesday, Garland County sheriff’s Deputy Charles DeLaHunt was dispatched to a residence in the 3100 block of Albert Pike Road in reference to a possible disturbance.
At the scene, DeLaHunt made contact with Medeiros, who said he had come to the residence to get his wife from her father’s house.
The father told the deputy Medeiros was demanding to come onto the property. He stated he went outside to stop Medeiros, who became upset, grabbed the father and shoved him into the outdoor brick wall twice, causing him to fall to the ground. A witness at the scene reportedly confirmed the father’s account.
LifeNet responded, but the father refused medical treatment and LifeNet personnel told DeLaHunt he didn’t appear to have sustained any injuries.
DeLaHunt took Medeiros into custody and noted he had “a strong smell of intoxicants” on his breath.
Once at the Garland County Detention Center, Medeiros submitted to a breathalyzer test and allegedly registered 0.160 percent blood alcohol, twice the legal limit.
