A traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle led to the arrest of a Jessieville man who was allegedly in possession of guns and drugs earlier this week.

Dillon Alaster Crumpton, 22, who lists a Jimmie Coleman Road address, was taken into custody around 4:30 a.m. Monday and charged with felony counts of simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, punishable by up to life in prison, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia, each punishable by up to six years.

Crumpton, who was also wanted on a failure to appear warrant, remained in custody Wednesday in lieu of zero bond and is set to appear in Garland County District Court on March 21.

According to an affidavit, Hot Springs police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle at a residence in the 300 block of Davis Drive at around 2:39 a.m. Monday and observed a red Mercury four-door parked sideways at the end of the driveway. The license plate number returned to another vehicle, a white Ford.

As officers approached the vehicle, they saw a white female asleep in the back passenger seat, and a white male, later identified as Crumpton, asleep in the driver’s seat. After officers observed a small revolver in Crumpton’s left hand, both suspects were taken into custody. The gun was found to be loaded.

In searching the vehicle, officers found a small plastic bag of marijuana, four empty syringes, a partial spoon with white residue in a black case and a syringe loaded with a clear liquid inside the vehicle. The spoon and syringe field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
