Lady Wolves edge White Hall

PEARCY — Annalee Diehl singled home two runs in the seventh inning for a 5-4 Lake Hamilton softball victory over White Hall Tuesday at Optimist Park.

Diehl also picked up the decision, making the Lady Wolves 3-3 before a 4:30 p.m. road game today against Glen Rose.

Haylee Quilici had three hits and Madison Hardcastle two for Lake Hamilton against White Hall. Quilici, Hardcastle and Dielhl are juniors.

Lake Hamilton has a 5 p.m. home game Monday against Bryant before a conference road game Tuesday against El Dorado. The Lady Wolves’ other victories, 8-2 over Jacksonvil­le and 3-0 over Wynne, came in a tournament at Sylvan Hills. Lake Hamilton lost

8-2 at home to Haskell Harmony Grove and twice in the Sylvan Hills tournament, 3-2 to Maumelle and

3-0 to Heber Springs.

UALR season ends

NEW ORLEANS — A year after going two games deep in the NCAA tournament, UALR’s men’s basketball teams had its season end Wednesday in with a 78-71 Sun Belt Conference firstround loss to Louisiana-Lafayette.

UALR led by one point at halftime but trailed 41-35 after Lafayette made its first four shots of the second half. The Cajuns led 55-45 with 9:53 left before UALR went on a 6-0 run.

The Trojans pulled within four three more times, the last at 63-59 on Jalen Jackson’s jumper with 2:08 to play. With only one field goal over the final 10:22, Lafayette sealed the victory by making 21 of its final 22 free throws, 15 straight at one point.

Marcus Johnson Jr. led UALR with 14 points. Kemy Osse scored 13 while Jackson and Lis Shoshi each added nine.
