St. Patrick’s Day lineup announced

- FROM STAFF REPORTS

Flying hamburgers and familiar faces, including the International Order of Irish Elvi, are among the entries for this year’s First Ever 14th Annual World’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade on

Friday.

“We’ve got some new entries, and lots of favorites from years past,” Leysa Lowery, who manages the parade entry procedure for Visit Hot Springs, said in a news release.

“The one constant is hilarious fun.

We always have that.”

The number of parade entries is limited to

40 each year.

This year’s entries will include the following:

• Spa City St. Paddy’s — A mobile jail cell, a paddy wagon and jail-striped inmates throwing freshly grilled hamburger sliders to the crowd.

• Magic Springs & Crystal Fall’s green magic taxi with magic wrestlers, fairies, shamrocks and leprechauns.

• A marching bagpipe and drum band composed of firefighters from Jonesboro, Conway and Fort Smith.

• The Bucket List Bunnie Ladies, a party barge sporting rabbit ears and ladies dancing to music by Sly and The Family Stone.

• Civil War re-enactors from the Irish Bearden Sharpshooters and Irish Artillery.

• A group of marching friends, originally Sigma Nu frat brothers from Missouri State, who have been visiting Hot Springs together since 1982.

• Rocky’s Corner, represented by an 18-foot trailer with a boxing ring, two banner holders, boxers and eight people just walking around and around the float as it moves, all to “The Theme From Rocky.”

• The 12-foot-tall bull from Taco Mama Restaurant.

“There will be plenty of other craziness to keep the crowd excited,” Lowery said.

This year’s parade will feature Alfonso Ribeiro, host of “America’s Funniest Home Videos,” as the celebrity grand marshal and wrestling legend Ric Flair as the official starter. Musician Uncle Kracker will perform a free concert immediately after the parade, which will begin at 6:30 p.m.
