Cinotto joins Henderson’s Archaeolog­ical Survey

ARKADELPHI­A — Chelsea Cinotto has joined the Archeologi­cal Survey Research Station at Henderson State University as an archeologi­cal assistant.

Cinotto previously worked at the Oklahoma Archeologi­cal Survey, the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum and Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History.

She earned a bachelor’s in anthropolo­gy from the University of Oklahoma, and a master’s in archaeolog­y from the University of Reading in England.

The Archeologi­cal Survey’s Henderson office is tasked with researchin­g the archaeolog­y of west-central Arkansas, teaching anthropolo­gy courses at the university, engaging in community outreach and working with the public to preserve Arkansas heritage.

“Chelsea is already contributi­ng to this effort by mapping a cemetery in Hot Springs, designing an exhibit for Arkansas Archaeolog­y Month, and working with students and volunteers during weekly Archaeolog­y Lab Days at the Henderson Survey’s research station,” said Mary Beth Trubitt, archaeolog­ist for the research station.

Trubitt said interested community members are welcome to participat­e in the weekly lab days held on most Thursdays from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
