ARKADELPHIA — David Fullen died on Sunday, March 26, 2017. He spent his life working and playing to the fullest. As a graduate of Henderson State University, David began his career as an officer for the Arkadelphia Police Department; however, he was soon commissioned as an Arkansas State Trooper. David worked for 23 years as a highway patrolman and as a member of the Governor’s Security under Gov. David Pryor. Upon retirement, he began working for Ross Whipple and Summit Bank until 2014.

The most beloved part of his life was being husband to his wife, Gwen, and father to his sons, Mark and John. Mark and wife, Dory, live in Oceanside, Calif., with their three children, Tara, Tylar and Beau. Mark is a motorcycle officer with the Oceanside Police Department. John and his wife, Allison, live in Fayetteville with their son, Tucker, and daughter, Evie. John is an engineer with Tyson Foods Inc.

David was a brother to Les Fullen (Bonnie), of Orlando, Fla., John Fullen, of Hot Springs, and Joe Fullen (Jolene), of Alexander. Four nephews and one niece called him uncle.

A very significant part of his life was his love for his brothers in Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity these past many years. There was a closeness that defied growing old, for they were bonded in youth and the bond was strong.

Being born in Arkadelphia to Sue and L.O. Fullen in 1948 and living the last 34 years in his hometown, David made many friends and called Arkadelphia “a magical place to grow up.”

In reference to his Sig Ep brothers, the family will have a “Gathering of the Tribe” to welcome family and friends. An open house visitation will be held at the Fullen home from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2017. Anyone whose life was touched by David is welcome to come to any door in the home at 2702 Lynwood Drive, Arkadelphia, AR 71923.
