GCL to host Arts & the Park events

-

Garland County Library, in conjunction with the Hot Springs Area Cultural Alliance, will sponsor a Local Author Book Fair from 4-7 p.m. May 4 as part of the Arts & the Park Festival.

“This promises to be our busiest author day yet,” Greg Wallace, event organizer for the library, said in a news release. “We’re thrilled to be teaming up with Arts & the Park. The date also coincides with the members’ only preview sale for the Friends of the Library book sale, so the authors should get more traffic than usual.”

Local writers in any genre may reserve a table to sell and sign books. Tables are free, but space is limited. To reserve a spot, email Wallace at gwallace@ gclibrary.com or call 623-4161.

In addition to the Local Author Book Fair, the Garland County Library is also hosting the following Arts & the Park events:

May 1

• 4 p.m. — Creating Public Art.

May 2

• 5:30 p.m. — The Narrative of the Still Life.

May 4

• 2 p.m. — Writers Critique Circle with Bud Kenny.

• 4 p.m. — Dogtown Poetry on Demand.

May 5

• 2 p.m. — History of Jazz with Dr. John Leisenring: Let It All Hang Out.

May 6

• 1 p.m. — Performance of “The Reluctant Dragon” by the Arkansas Arts Center Children’s Theatre on Tour at Hill Wheatley Plaza in downtown Hot Springs.

Awards will be announced at the Arts & the Park Launch Party on April 28. The juror is Daniel Mark Cassity. The exhibit will be open during library hours from April
