Children’s ministry

-

We join families to nurture children from birth through sixth grade through three phases of growth. In Tiny Town, preschoolers receive loving care along with activities that introduce the fundamentals of faith. In grades 1-4, children transition to Trinity Town, where they are challenged to grow in wisdom and faith. In fifth and sixth grades, pre-teens move to UpTown, where they put their faith into action, learning to become leaders at home, school, and church. All of this learning and growing is paired with a whole lot of fun as weekly worship, Connect Groups, music, and Bible discovery experiences combine with camps, trips, and recreation to produce kids children who are ready to make an impact.

Vacation Bible School

Back in 1897 in New York City, Miss Hawes, a doctor’s wife, noticed that more children were getting injured playing in the streets of the city during the summer. So, she created a Bible Club for children that would meet in the beer halls during the morning.

The Bible Clubs became so wildly successful that the kids looked forward to meeting Miss Hawes each day. Years passed, and the dream of Vacation Bible School took on its own identity.

First Baptist Church has held Vacation Bible School for at least 60 years. Each year is a new adventure as kids have fun and learn fundamental truths of God’s word.

This year is going poised to be one of our best ever, as we gather for “The Galactic Starveyors Club” during the week of June 12-16, with a family preview night June 11 at 6 p.m. Together we will survey creation and look to the Bible to find the truths of all that God has made.

You and your children are invited each night for a light meal starting at 5 p.m., and then at 6 p.m. you can check your child into their class where they will experience Bible study, crafts, and recreation. Children will end each night in the worship center at 8 p.m. It will definitely be a week to remember. As always, it is completely free! We’ll see you there.
