A Hot Springs woman was arrested late Friday after allegedly attacking her husband twice in the same night.

Ashley Ann Sexton, 29, of 1012 Garland Ave., was taken into custody at 11 p.m. and charged with a felony count of third-degree domestic battery, punishable by up to six years in prison, because she was previously convicted of the same charge on April 1, 2016, and a subsequent charge is classified as a felony.

She remained in custody Monday in lieu of zero bond and is set to appear May 2 in Garland County District Court.

According to the affidavit, Hot Springs police Officer Thomas Plummer responded to Sexton’s residence in reference to a disturbance at around 7 p.m. Friday, after a male called 911 and a female could be heard screaming and hitting him in the background.

The man was rocking back and forth, holding his arms to his chest, when Plummer arrived. He reportedly said his pregnant wife, identified as Sexton, had attacked him by pinning him down in their bedroom. When he tried to get away, Sexton bit him on the back.

He complained of injuries to his back and forearms. Plummer said he observed several red, large, discolored bruises on the victim’s back and what appeared to be multiple bruises to his forearms.

Sexton said her husband had attacked her by pushing her into a corner on their bed frame and claimed she had injuries to her back and stomach. Though

no injuries were reportedly visible, Sexton was transported to National Park Medical Center. Plummer met with Sexton at the emergency room and provided her his contact information to update him on the severity of her injury.

At around 10:40 p.m. that same day, Plummer was told Sexton had returned to the residence and was attacking her husband again. No additional injuries were observed, and Sexton was taken into custody.

Sexton showed officers a bruise to the right side of her back near her rib cage after being arrested. The bruise was about the size of an adult thumb and was blue-green in color.

• A Hot Springs man was arrested Friday after allegedly punching his girlfriend multiple times during an argument.

Rosario Lopez Reyes, 46, of 400 Golf Links Road, was taken into custody at his residence shortly after 11 a.m. and charged with a misdemeanor count of third-degree domestic battery, punishable by up to one year in jail. He remained in custody Monday in lieu of zero bond and is set to appear May 2 in district court.

According to the affidavit, Hot Springs police Officer Nathan Williams responded to the residence in reference to a domestic battery and upon arrival saw a male and female standing face to face in the residence’s living room through a window.

The female answered the door when Williams knocked and he noted she had swelling and redness below her left eye and was “visibly upset.” She told him police were no longer needed and everything was OK.

Williams asked her what happened and she said her boyfriend, identified as Reyes, had been out drinking for the last five hours. She found him and brought him back to their residence where they began to argue. She said that during the argument, Reyes punched her multiple times.

She told him Reyes, who was in the living room, doesn’t speak English very well. Reyes was taken into custody and once he was in handcuffs, the victim became more upset and begged for him not to go to jail, stating that it would make matters worse.

She began to downplay the incident, the affidavit states, claiming Reyes had only hit her once and the altercation wasn’t significant enough for him to go to jail. She reportedly said the abuse was normal for them and she couldn’t leave the relationship because she didn’t have anywhere to go with her 2-year-old and 8-month-old children.

According to the affidavit, shortly before 6 a.m., HSPD officers responded to the residence to a report of someone attempting to break in and upon arrival officers noted Jones had forced his way inside.

They made contact with Jones’ girlfriend who said Jones had returned to the house intoxicated and she had refused to let him in. The victim was noted to be bleeding from her lip and she said Jones punched her, causing pain to her jaw and a cut to her lip.

The victim said she has been in a relationship with Jones for approximately five years and has lived with him for three years.
