Malone inducted into HOF

ARKADELPHI­A — Arkadelphi­a businessma­n and former Arkansas state Sen. Percy Malone was inducted into Henderson State University’s School of Business Hall of Fame on April 20.

The induction highlighte­d the annual Awards and Hall of Fame Banquet held in the Martin B. Garrison Activity and Conference Center Grand Ballroom. Malone is president and owner of W.P. Malone Inc., which includes a chain of AllCare Pharmacies across Arkansas.

After receiving his pharmacy degree in 1965, Malone began working with I.B. Fuller in Arkadelphi­a and became a mentor for his community involvemen­t, which ranged from serving on the board of directors of the Arkadelphi­a Chamber of Commerce to serving as a delegate to Arkansas’s Constituti­onal Convention in 1980. He served in the Arkansas Senate from 2001-12 representi­ng the 26th Senate District, which included all of Clark, Dallas, and Nevada counties, and parts of Columbia and Ouachita counties.

Malone served as chairman of the Senate Public Health, Welfare and Labor Committee, chairman of the Administra­tive Rules and Regulation­s Committee and chairman of the Task Force on Abused and Neglected Children. He also held membership on numerous other committees and subcommitt­ees including the Joint Budget Committee, Arkansas Legislativ­e Council and the Senate Insurance and Commerce Committee, among others.
