Firearms program offered by MVSA

-

“Ladies! Have you been wondering about personal protection? Protection in your home? Protection for your family? Protection when you are out simply ‘doing your thing?’”

“Are you curious about the possibility of the use of a firearm, but don’t have the slightest idea where to start? Is it something you’d like to try but don’t know where to go to get instruction — don’t know where to go to just ‘try’ out firearms — don’t know who to contact about what kind of firearm you might want? If any of this pertains to you, then perhaps the Ladies on Target program at Mountain Valley Sportsman’s Association could help you in your quest,” states the press release.

This is a program designed specifically for ladies who have never held a firearm, never shot a firearm and know little or nothing about shooting. They don’t have to own a firearm; don’t have to have their own ammunition; and don’t have to bring anything with them except themself, their undivided attention for three to four hours, a willingness to learn and the class fee.

A substantial amount of time is spent teaching the safety involved in firearms and providing a variety of firearms for participants to shoot so they will have some idea of what they might like to purchase, if that is what they decide to do. Participants will learn about stance and balance, alignment, loading a magazine and actually get to shoot at targets. “It won’t take you long to decide if shooting is for you.” One of the goals is to assist shooters in overcoming any fear or intimidation with regard to firearms from which they might suffer.

“Ladies On Target is a beginning to the ultimate goal of getting you to the point where, when faced with a high stress, unexpected, unanticipated situation, you will react instinctively. You will come to regard your firearm as an ally and friend. Since this is serious business, we are a serious group, but we also have fun.” So any lady who thinks they’d like to give it a try — “dust off your sneeks, roll up your jeans and join us” at Mountain Valley Sportsman’s Association, 320 Ten Mile Road in Hot Springs. Actually, it’s in the middle of nowhere!

The next class will be at 9 a.m. Saturday. Those interested can signup and/or ask questions of Bart Messina at mvsawot@gmail.com or find Ladies on Target on Facebook.
