Basecamp readies two water events

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — The Hot Springs Village Basecamp crew has two upcoming events for people to have fun on the water.

Outdoor lovers can paddle Lake Coronado and enjoy the sunset during the first Basecamp Paddle of 2017, beginning at 5 p.m. May 10.

Participan­ts will meet at the Coronado Fitness Center trailhead, paddle until sunset, then meet back on the center’s patio for wine and cheese around a fire.

Kayak rentals are limited and will be available to those arriving first.

And for HSV members only, there will be an eight-mile kayak journey on the Caddo River, set to leave from Caddo River Camping and Canoe in Glenwood at 9 a.m. May 16.

Participan­ts can bring their own kayak and gear, or rent from the POA. There are six one-person kayaks and two tandem kayaks available.
