HSU School of Business announces awards
ARKADELPHIA — Henderson State University’s School of Business held its annual awards banquet and Hall of Fame induction on April 20.
Ophelia Akoto and Gil Debusscher were the only two students to receive multiple awards.
Akoto, a junior from Arkadelphia, received the Oren Harris Outstanding Business Law Student Award and Oscar and Eathel Greenberg Scholarship.
Debusscher, a graduate student from Belgium, received a CFA Program Awareness Scholarship and the Joshua C. Jones Finance Scholarship.
Other awards and scholarships presented were:
• Witney Ayers, a senior from Bismarck, received the Stella Spoon Accounting Scholarship.
• Brenda Bahena, a senior from Hot Springs, received an ASCPA Accounting Scholarship.
• Kathryn Bennett, a junior from Hot Springs, received the Dr. Louis Dawkins School of Business Scholarship.
• Carly Cato, a junior from Alexander, received the Chris and Debra Wewers Scholarship for Business.
• Ashley Davenport, a senior from Malvern, received a Hudson, Cisne and Company Scholarship.
• Casey DeRoche, a graduate student from Hot Springs, received a CFA Program Awareness Scholarship.
• John Dodson, a senior from Marion, received the CRC MIS Scholarship.
• Jordan Dominguez, a senior from Oceanside, Calif., received the Lois Dodson Scholarship.
• Justice Frazier, a junior from Louann, received the Deborah and William Nolan Scholarship.
• Montana Fuller, a junior from Lakin, Kan., received the a Program Awareness Scholarship.
• Shaelyn Goecke, a sophomore from Atlanta, Texas, received the Robert C. “Bob” Fisher Scholarship.
• Paul Hawron, a sophomore from New Boston, Texas, received the CRC Outstanding MIS Student Award.
• Carrie Herron, a junior from Arkadelphia, received the Ross Godwin Outstanding Student Award.
• Jessie Jacoby, a senior from Moscow, Texas, received the Print Mania Outstanding Management Student Award.
• Rebecca Johnston, a senior from Sparkman, received the Tad and Judy Krug Scholarship.
• Cassidy Lawrence, a senior from Prescott, received the Southern Bancorp Outstanding Finance Student Award.
• Roseanna Melson, a junior from Nashville, received an ASCPA Accounting Scholarship
• Justin Parker, a junior from Hot Springs, received the Branda and Lee Richardson Scholarship.
• Sydnee Parker, a sophomore from The Woodlands, Texas, received the BKD Accounting Scholarship.
• Bailey Thomas, a freshman from Atkins, received the Christopher Castleberry Scholarship.
• Presley Wittenburg, a junior from Benton, received a Hudson, Cisne and Company Scholarship.
Faculty awards were presented to Victor Claar, Outstanding Research Faculty; Lonnie Jackson, Outstanding Graduate Faculty; and Lisa Massey, Outstanding Undergraduate Faculty.
Arkadelphia businessman and former state Sen. Percy Malone was inducted into the School of Business Hall of Fame during the banquet. Malone is president and owner of W.P. Malone Inc., which includes a chain of AllCare Pharmacies across Arkansas.
