Fashion show a success

-

Dear editor:

We would like to officially thank everyone for their help and support of our Second Annual Benefit Fashion Show. It was a great success, but it would not have happened without people working with us all the way.

Special thanks to Teressa Nevels, who put in time with us, to encourage and teach us, not just how to model, but how to be positive young men and women; The Sentinel-Record for its wonderful coverage of our special day; Wal-Mart, Paula Jones, The Hotel Hot Springs & Spa, Tower of Strength Ministries, Nataile Crossley, ACTI-ACE Cosmetology Program Team, Legacy Printers, Kwik Print, Kelsey Maddox, Michael Mueller and the Webb Community Center.

Our volunteers who worked with us through all the rehearsals included Lisa Parish, Laina Martin, Regina Peck, Johnathan Williams, Shirley Simmons, Gwen Logan, Johnny Lacy, Dorothee Riddley, Wanda Canady, Elvin Canady, Marcus Bland and Louise White. And The P.H.O.E.B.E. board and advisers who supported behind the scenes in special ways making sure that we had snacks, lots of food and emergency pep talks!

What is a fashion show without clothing and jewelry? Thanks to our clothing sponsors Inheritance111.Com, Nearly New Boutique, Younikness Design-Fabiola Bernard and JawDroppers Jewelry by Phyllis and Sonja Beard.

We thank those sponsors Linda Prather, the Rev. Chester Jones, Haven United Methodist Church and Byron and Judy Narcisse’ of Chicago, Ill., who gave generously so we could reach our goal to restore the John Lee Webb house. And our community partners who helped to make our program full circle, Cora Williams Maglero Jones, our emcee for the evening and from Little Rock, Ryan A. Williams, DJ Raw, Joshua Smith, violinist, Keanna Peck, choreographer, Mastor Tyrone Burnell, MC and our own teammate, Eli Evans.

What is a fashion show without the models who put in the time? A shout out to our friends and family, Kei’anna Rodriquez, Geah King, Tiara Scott, Takiya Johnson, Layla King, Tyrell Lambert, Brian Lambert, Tionna Young, Deandre Lambert, Cedrix Griffin, and Nasir Williams.

And we want to say thanks to our community for all of your support every day! The Uzuri Project Youth Institute & Emerging Leaders Eli Evans, Audriyana Rodriguez, Darnesa Hudson, Georgia Grimaud, Raven Turner, Kynnedi Murry, Myiesha LeDay, Gabrielle Huell, Tianna Gooley and Kenyon Gooley.
