Wood, Smith, Schnipper, Clay & Vines has withstood the test of time and holds the impressive title as the second oldest law firm in the state of Arkansas. The firm was started by George W. Murphy and James B. Wood in 1875 and has remained in continuous practice ever since.” The firm has remained dedicated to its goal of providing their clients quality legal services while adhering to the highest ethical standards in delivering those services to each client,” reports the press release. In January 2017, John Vines, an establishe­d member of the firm and the community, accepted the position of assistant parliament­arian and house counsel for the Arkansas House of Representa­tives. In keeping with its tradition of excellence, the firm has made some changes recently to its structure. Beau Britton, an associate with the firm since 2014. has been named a partner. Britton maintains a practice focused on the areas of estate planning and probate, property law, business law and general civil litigation. Britton is very active in the community and is currently the president of the Garland County Bar Associatio­n. With Britton being named as a partner, the firm changed its name to Wood, Schnipper & Britton.

The firm also welcomed a new associate, John Stobaugh. Stobaugh joined the firm in April after practicing for almost four years in Magnolia. He is a skilled litigator, having served as the deputy city attorney for the city of Magnolia and prosecutin­g all of the city’s misdemeano­r crimes. Stobaugh’s practice focuses on the areas of family law, criminal law, personal injury and general civil litigation. With the addition of Stobaugh, the firm includes four attorneys: Don Schnipper, Philip Clay, Beau Britton and John Stobaugh.
