Ann Barnes

Ann Barnes, 81, of Hot Springs, died May 21, 2017. A celebratio­n of life will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church. Arrangemen­ts are by Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.

Rudolph F.W. Bischof Jr.

LITTLE ROCK — Rudolph Frederick Wilhelm “Rudy” Bischof Jr., 76, of Little Rock, left his earthly domain to blow his horn at his permanent gig in the Big Band of Heaven on May 19, 2017.

Born Jan. 12, 1941, in Hot Springs, Ark., to Rudolph Frederick Wilhelm Bischof Sr. and Magthalana­e Orfanos Bischof Cecil, both of whom preceded him in death. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and was an icon and highly respected member in the Insurance Claims Industry from 1964-2017. Rudy was also a longtime member and servant to Grace Lutheran Church.

Rudy was a fitness buff who enjoyed golf, fishing and jogging. He was a founding member of the U.S. Crappie Corp, which in its day pulled many a fish from Lakes Overcup, Nimrod and Peckerwood.

Jazz music has always been a part of Rudy’s life, as he earned a baritone scholarshi­p to ASTC (UCA) and went on to play his valve trombone in his church brass band, as well as a member of Swing Band Reunion with whom he played three weeks prior to his heavenly gig.

Rudy was preceded in death by his wife of almost 50 wonderful years, Sherry Bischof.

He was loved and is survived by his wife of two glorious years, JoAnn Crowe Bischof; sons, Bill Bischof (Maia), of Denton ,Texas, Ben Bischof (Jennifer Johnson), of Little Rock, and his daughter, Barrie Bischof Torrey (John), of Little Rock; stepsons, Nick Crowe (Megan), of Little Rock, and Ben Crowe (Kristin), of Boston; brothers, John Barry Bischof (Lise), of Houston, Ark., and Rob Bischof (Diane), of Hot Springs, Ark.; grandchild­ren, John David and Jesse Bischof, Maggie and Luke Torrey and Alexios (Sonny) Bischof, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at 11:30 a.m. May 24 at the Grace Lutheran Fellowship Hall, located at 5124 Hillcrest Ave., Little Rock, AR 72205, followed by a 1 p.m. funeral service officiated by Pastor James Walter.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK — Allen Cleveland, 56, of North Little Rock, formerly of Hot Springs, died Sunday, May 21, 2017.

A celebratio­n of life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mount Tabor Community Church with Pastor Paul Thompson officiatin­g.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Hot Springs Funeral Home.

Willa C. Davenport

Willa Caroline Davenport, age 82, Hot Springs, died Saturday, May 20, 2017.

She was born Feb. 4, 1935, in Washington, D.C., the daughter of Winslow S. and Elizabeth Slater McIver. Willa married Harold E. Davenport in June 1978.

Willa was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Shawn O’Connell.

Survivors include her husband, Harold E. Davenport, of Hot Springs; two sons, William (Adele) O’Connell and Mark (Liz) O’Connell; one daughter, Elaine Klenny; one daughterin-law, Ailene O’Connell, all of Maryland; 13 grandchild­ren; three great-grandchild­ren; nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of wonderful friends.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Gardens, under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs.

Shirley A. Horton

BONNERDALE — Shirley Anne Horton, age 77, of Bonnerdale, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2017.

She was born on July 15, 1939, in Kilgore, Texas, the daughter of Uriah Daniel “Jack” Mizell Sr. and Mattie Pauline Dorsey Mizell. On Aug. 10, 1958, she was married to John Henry Horton. She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandson, James Dean Earl Horton; and three brothers, Uriah Daniel Mizell Jr., James Thomas Mizell and Wayne Dean Mizell.

She was a retired CNA with the former St. Joseph’s Mercy Medical Center and enjoyed hunting.

She is survived by her husband, John Henry “Papa John” Horton, of Bonnerdale; two sons and one daughter-in-law, John Daniel and Melissa Horton, of Royal, and Jimmy Horton, of Pearcy; two daughters, Crystal Gayle Horton, of Hot Springs, and Debbie Horton, of Bonnerdale; four grandchild­ren, Shelbi Danielle Horton, Rachael Ann Horton, John Henderson and Patience Shepherd; three brothers, Bobby Mizell, of Kilgore, Texas, Roy Mizell and Don Mizell, both of Many, La.; and one sister, Jackie Holcombe, of Many, La.

Services will be noon Wednesday in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home chapel, Glenwood, with Brother George Lynch officiatin­g.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Grants Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearer­s will be James Ortigara, Brad Newton, Curt Horton, John Horton, James Horton and Greggory Clark. Guest registry is at http:// www.davis-smith.com.

MALVERN — Edna Walker Lemons Parish, age 89, of Malvern, passed away May 21, 2017.

Survivors include her husband, R.C. “Buck” Parish, to whom she married on Oct. 26, 2002; children: Jimmy (Sharion) Lemons, of Antioch, Paul (Marietta) Lemons, of Morrilton, Sandra (Warren) Bankson, of Little Rock, Mary (Fred) Penny, of Malvern; stepsons: Gary (Angie) Parish, Randy (Susan) Parish and Jerry Parish, her half sister, Vera Lou Davis, of Harp; nine grandchild­ren, 17 great-grandchild­ren, three great-great-grandchild­ren.

Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. today, May 23, at Regency Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.
