Edith Simpson, 89, of Hot Springs, Ark., went to be with her Lord on May 22, 2017.

She was a faithful and dedicated mother and wife of a Missionary Baptist pastor. She faithfully walked by the side of her pastor husband for more than 60 years of ministry. Edith was a homemaker and served her Lord faithfully. Her life was centered around her husband, family and church. She was a Christian example to her family, who loved her dearly and thought of her as one of God’s most precious and sweetest creations.

She leaves behind her husband of 71 years, A.J. Simpson; four daughters, Mildred Lue Washington (Don), Jimmie Sue Smith (Charles), Nancy Copeland (Charles), and Joyce Hendrix (Gene); sister, Shirley Blair, and brother-in-law, Clifford Teague. As a proud grandmothe­r, she adored her 10 grandchild­ren and 12 great-grandchild­ren.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. Friday with a celebratio­n of Edith’s life beginning at 2 p.m. at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home chapel with Charles Smith and Donald Washington officiatin­g.

Burial will follow at Mountain Valley Cemetery.

Pallbearer­s will be her grandsons, Chris Smith, Shane Washington, Jeremy Hendrix, Anthony Hendrix, Benjamin Meggs and great-grandson, Tyler Allen.
