A Hot Springs woman was arrested Wednesday morning on a misdemeanor warrant for allegedly getting into two physical altercations with her 12-year-old daughter last month.

Alexis Alease Millhouse, 33, who lists an Autumn Street address, was taken into custody at 9:15 a.m. and charged with third-degree domestic battery, punishable by up to one year in jail. She remained in custody Thursday in lieu of zero bond and is set to appear in Garland County District Court on June 6.

According to the affidavit, at around 9:42 a.m. April 29

Hot Springs police Officer Jonathan Smith responded to a child abuse call at Millhouse’s residence, where he made contact with Millhouse and her daughter.

The daughter said that she tried to wake up Millhouse in her upstairs bedroom at around

7 a.m. that morning. Millhouse had allegedly left the daughter and her 10-year-old brother at home at around 10 p.m. the night before while she went clubbing, and didn’t return until

5 a.m. the following day.

The daughter said when she tried to wake her, Millhouse became agitated and shoved her face away while saying, “get out of here b - - - ,” scratching the right side of her daughter’s face near her eye, breaking the skin.

The daughter said about two hours later she was in their upstairs bathroom in an argument with Millhouse, who allegedly grabbed her by the hair and pulled her out of the bathroom, again yelling, “get out of here b - - - - .”

Millhouse allegedly admitted she grabbed her daughter by her hair and pulled her out of the bathroom, but said it was because she thought she had ingested an unknown number of pills and was trying to kill herself. The daughter said there were never pills in the bathroom and that she was not suicidal.

Smith observed a fresh scratch mark on the right side of the daughter’s face, approximately

1.5 inches long. He took photos of the scratch, and contacted Child Protective Services.

• A local man allegedly in possession of drugs and a stolen vehicle was arrested on multiple charges Wednesday after reportedly attempting to flee from police, injuring an officer in the process.

Jamar Leron Smith, 28, who lists a Pleasant Street address, was taken into custody around 4:15 p.m. and charged with felony counts of theft by receiving, punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, punishable by up to six years, and misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance, marijuana, punishable by up to one year in jail.

He remained in custody Thursday in lieu of $8,000 bond and is set to appear June 6 in district court.

According to the affidavit, at around 4 p.m., police Officers Jason Greene and John McLean responded to the 200 block of Gaines Avenue to investigate an assault and observed a gray Toyota Tacoma with four occupants arrive at the same location and exit the vehicle. Officers allegedly detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

Greene spoke with the driver, identified as Smith, and noted he had red, watery eyes and an odor of intoxicants.

When asked his name, Smith reportedly said he did not want to give out any information and became agitated. He eventually gave his name and a computer check revealed he had an active parole absconder warrant.

Smith gave Officer Robert Plyler the keys to the vehicle he had arrived in, and officers allegedly discovered Smith’s keychain contained a green, metal screw-top cylindrical container that held a small amount of marijuana and four small marijuana cigarettes, along with a plastic baggie containing meth.

When officers attempted to place Smith into custody, he reportedly tried to run and collided with McLean, causing Smith, McLean and Greene to fall to the ground. After a brief struggle, Smith was placed into custody. McLean’s shoulder was reportedly injured during the struggle and he went to CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs for treatment.

A computer check revealed the Toyota, valued at $22,746, had been reported stolen in Calcasieu, La.
