Barcelona Baptist welcomes Jackson House coordinator
HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — The community is welcome to attend a presentation by Jackson House Volunteer and Administrative Coordinator Suzanne Babbie, taking place at 6 p.m. June 7 in Barcelona Road Baptist Church, 390 Barcelona Road.
The program will take place in the fellowship hall, and a coffee and cake reception will follow.
Located in Hot Springs, the Eleanor Klugh Jackson House for Crisis Intervention Services Inc., commonly known as the Jackson House, is an interfaith community crisis center. The organization provides short-term emergency assistance for basic needs including food, clothing, shelter and medicine, without regard to race, creed, sex or nationality, and without imposing values or beliefs on those being served.
Babbie began her work there 13 years ago as a volunteer, then served as a board member. She has held her part-time coordinator position for the last 10 years.
“I can truthfully say that the experience of being a part of Jackson House, with our mission of helping those in need, remains a true honor for me,” Babbie said in a news release.
Jackson House is a private, nonprofit, tax deductible organization funded by local sources, and does not seek government funds. The group also benefits from two thrift stores, one located next door to its facility on Malvern Avenue, and one on Albert Pike Road.
Jackson House depends on volunteer service from the community, and several members of BRBC offer their time to the organization.
