Movies at the Market begins in June
Licensing issues have caused a change in the previously announced lineup of family friendly flicks that will be screened during the third annual Movies at the Market series that begins June
1 and runs through June 29.
“Moana” and “The Jungle Book” are among the lineup for the 2017 series.
Every Thursday evening in June will feature a free screening of a popular movie at the Hot Springs Farmers & Artisans Market, 121 Orange St., according to Bill Solleder, director of marketing for Visit Hot Springs, which presents the movie series with the Hot Springs Young Professionals.
The lawn opens at 7 p.m. for each of the screenings and the movies begin at sunset, or around 8:30 p.m. Visit http://www.weather.com for the sunset time each Thursday. Families may bring a blanket, chairs and picnic for the shows.
The 2017 Movies at the Market lineup is as follows:
• June 1 — “Moana.”
• June 8 — “The Princess and the Frog.”
• June 15 — “The Jungle Book.”
• June 22 — “School of Rock.”
• June 29 — “Rogue One-A Star Wars Story.” “In the past we screened our first movie in mid-June and ended the series in late July. We decided to start earlier to take advantage of cooler temperatures. A movie outdoors under the stars is a great little midweek pick-me-up during the summer time,” Solleder said.
Movies at the Market is sponsored by Resort TV Cable, Oaklawn Jockey Club, Roberts Family Attractions, National Park Medical Center and Diamond Gymnastics.
Picnics are welcome, but glass containers are prohibited. Popcorn, soft drinks, candy and other snacks will be available for purchase. No smoking is allowed.
Uniformed and nonuniformed security is provided. Excess noise during the show will not be tolerated. Pets are allowed if on a leash, but disruptive pets and their owners will be asked to leave. Bug spray is encouraged, as there will not be any insecticide sprayed by the organizers.
