Grace Academy recognizes graduates
Grace Academy recognized two honor graduates ahead of this weekend’s commencement ceremony, which was held Saturday at Grace Apostolic Church.
Honor graduates recognized were Derek Mauldin and Jared Farias.
Mauldin is the son of the Rev. Harold and Elizabeth Mauldin. He considered scholarship offers from Arkansas Tech University in Russellville and Henderson State University in Arkadelphia.
Grace Academy previously awarded Mauldin the Peacemaker Award. He served as the yearbook editor and actively participated in First Lego League robotics, including the junior competition, for eight years.
Mauldin completed six college credit hours each semester since he first enrolled in courses at National Park College in the first semester of his junior year. He maintained a 4.0 grade-point average in both high school and college. Mauldin is a member of the Alpha Beta Psi chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society and the National Society of High
School Scholars.
Farias is the son of Gabriel and Dolores Farias. He is pursuing a degree at National Park College in welding.
Grace Academy previously awarded Farias the Peacemaker Award. He served as president of the school’s student government and actively participated in First Tech Challenge and First Lego League, including the junior competition, for eight years.
Both Mauldin and Farias will receive the Nalani’s Hope Scholarship from Grace Academy. Mauldin also received a scholarship from Trail Life Troop AR-413.
