Grads recognized by ASU Honors College

JONESBORO — Graduates from three local high schools were among a record

171 graduating honor students recognized May 12, when the Honors College at Arkansas State University hosted the eighth annual Honors Recognitio­n Ceremony and Reception.

Arkansas State conducted spring commenceme­nt ceremonies on May 13 for

2,200 candidates at the Convocatio­n Center. Only 30 students earned the highest level of graduating with University Honors.

Another 68 graduates earned the Graduating in Honors distinctio­n by completing a minimum of 18 credit hours in honors coursework and graduating with a grade-point average of at least 3.5.

The distinctio­n is recognized on their diplomas and their formal academic transcript­s. They are also presented with a silver Honors medallion and a certificat­e in recognitio­n of their accomplish­ment.

Lake Hamilton High School alumni who earned the Graduating in Honors distinctio­n were Aundrea Allen, of Hot Springs; Ryan Baker, of Royal; Madison Blancaflor, of Hot Springs; Caleb Marsh, of Pearcy; Lindsey Mills, of Hot Springs; and Monica Norman, of Hot Springs.

Lakeside High School graduate Vanessa Thompson, of Hot Springs, also earned the distinctio­n.

The Ceremony and Reception recognized 46 students who received Honors Certificat­es with a minimum of 18 credit hours in honors coursework and graduated with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. The students received a certificat­e in recognitio­n of their accomplish­ment.

Honors Certificat­e recipients from Hot Springs were Ramona Kelly Bass, a graduate of Hot Springs World Class High School and National Park College; Kristen Lovelady, Lakeside; Robert Noble, Lake Hamilton; and Hannah Rice, Lakeside.
