Feel rejuvenated with Chrysalis Day Spa

-

At the age of 25, I first discovered my interest and love for skin care with the introduction and sales of Mary Kay cosmetics and two years later completed the Esthetician program.

After graduation, I had about 30 days before I could take the state board test so I took a “temp” job at this new up-andcoming cellular phone company called Alltel. To make a long story short, they made me an offer I could not refuse. I completed state board testing and put my Esthetics career “on hold” for the next 10 years while building a pretty lucrative career in this “booming” wireless industry.

Even though I was making a great living (six-figure income) and loved being a corporate rep in central Arkansas, I longed to get into the skin care business that I had a passion for. After the birth of my second child in 2003, I wanted a career change. While on maternity leave, I went to the International Dermal Institute to get a “crash course” in the latest trends in the industry. I fully intended to keep working for Alltel until I built up a business big enough to make the transition from corporate America.

My first week as an Esthetician I booked over $1,500 in services (facials, waxing, etc.) and knew I could not do both careers. I spent the first year working at Avalon Salon and built up a large enough client base that it was time to go out on my own. While doing a facial on a dear friend of mine, Ann Tillman, she said, “Chrysalis. That’s what you need to name your spa.” I loved it! That is how we got our name.

On Feb. 1, 2005, I opened a 5,000-square-foot facility offering all aspects of spa services at 4332 Central Ave. in Temperance Hill Square. A second Chrysalis location is currently under construction at 321 Ouachita Ave. Isis Whelan and I recently received our certifications at The National Laser Institute and are so excited to be incorporating a new medical spa downtown. From a wine bar to an elaborate, full-service med spa, I’m certain that it will be an incredible asset to our community.

Come in for an hour or spend the day. You will leave simply rejuvenated.
