Umphers Construction Co. Inc. is a family owned and operated company, and is also a woman-owned business. Umphers Construction is owned by Sara Umphers.
John and Sara Umphers incorporated the business in 1960. We are celebrating our 57th year in business during 2017.
Involved in everyday operations of the company are Sara Umphers, Judy Ellis, Randy Umphers, Christ Tyler, Jane Smith and Allan Stanley who most all have been with Umphers for going on 40 years. Jane serves as vice president and CEO of operations. Allan is project manager, head estimator, and in charge of overall operations in the field.
We employ 25 to 30 ironworkers and several certified crane operators.
Our highly skilled and very committed job superintendents include Trice Ellis III, Gary McNeil, Brian Smith, Mark Smith, Allan Stanley and James Chaney. Our team is capable of any type of steel erection job with expertise and extensive knowledge of the trade. Most of them have worked and been devoted to Umpco for 35 years plus.
Some of our jobs done in 2016 and 2017 include numerous hotels, financial institutions, shopping centers, fire stations, churches and many other steel erection projects all over Arkansas. Locally we have worked at the Arlington Hotel, several McDonald’s restaurants, and the beautiful new downtown hotel, The Waters, which was the old Thompson Building, now revamped and open for business.
Currently, we are working on several e-STEM schools at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Levy Church of Christ, Creek Plaza Shopping Center, Arkansas Medical Cyclotron CARTI, more hotels, and many more commercial projects all over the state.
