Lakeside alum graduates from LSU

NEW ORLEANS — Lakeside High School alum Stephanie Grise was recognized last month during the 46th commenceme­nt ceremony for the Louisiana State University Health New Orleans School of Dentistry.

Grise graduated with an honor in teaching distinctio­n and is a 2011 Honors College graduate from the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas in Fayettevil­le. She is the daughter of Stan and Stacey Grise.

Her campus involvemen­t included service as a student ambassador, student member of the LSU Strategic Planning Committee and president of the C. Edmund Kells Honor Society. She participat­ed in a weeklong mission trip to Mexico to provide free dental care to the communitie­s of Atoyac de Alvarez and San Juan de Flores.

Grise was awarded the Grace Voigt Leadership Scholarshi­p, Delta Dental of Arkansas Scholarshi­p and the Special Care Dentistry Associatio­n award for treating patients with disabiliti­es. She was one of only two students selected to present research at the 2016 American Dental Education Associatio­n annual Session and Exhibition as a student fellow with the ADEA Academic Dental Careers Fellowship Program. She plays piano and sings with Developmen­tal Groove, the 12-member cover band composed of students and faculty at the School of Dentistry.

Grise was accepted into the General Practice Residency Program in the Maxwell S. Fogel Department of Dental Medicine at Einstein Medical Center Philadelph­ia in Pennsylvan­ia.
