HSU honors staff for years of service

ARKADELPHI­A — Staff employees at Henderson State University were honored for years of service during a luncheon and awards ceremony held May 31.

Sandy Rogers, an administra­tive specialist for the Multimedia Learning Center, was honored for 40 years of service to Henderson. Coak Matthews, head swim coach, was recognized for 35 years and Carmella Dickerson, assistant registrar, was honored for 30 years.

Recognized for 25 years were Nancy Batchelor, business office accountant; Martha Bryant, administra­tive specialist for marketing and communicat­ion; Lottie Ware-Hamlin, purchasing specialist; Sandy Denning, administra­tive specialist for finance and administra­tion; and Tim Jones, director of purchasing.

Receiving awards for 20 years of service were Christy Winston, payroll services specialist; Crystal Campbell, administra­tive specialist for School of Business; Lisa Buck, purchasing specialist for computer services; Robyn Chastain, assistant director for Talent Search; and Teresa Porter, administra­tive specialist for Talent Search.

Recognized for 15 years were Sheryl Strother, assistant director of the Community Education Center; Ernie Higgs, director of Garrison Center; Cindy Dillavou, administra­tive specialist for University Counseling and Student Health Center; and Kimberly Hunter, library technician-academic support.

Receiving awards for 10 years of service were Harvey Grassi, network services coordinato­r for computer services; Ermatine Johnson, administra­tive specialist for the business office; Lisa Ayres, administra­tive specialist for Disability Resource Center; Drew Smith, director of Internatio­nal Student Programs; and Deborah Collins, director of University Health and Counseling Center.

For five years of service, those recognized were Brian Bagwell, computer support technician for Huie Library; Cris McGough, academic adviser; Stephanie McClure, administra­tive specialist for Academic Advising Center; Kyle Jones,

assistant director of McNair Scholars; Chanda Hooten, academic adviser; Jeremiah Fiscus, assistant football coach; Glen Jones, president; Christophe­r Golston, student services counselor; Phyllis Cogburn, human resource specialist; Beverly Myers, administra­tive specialist for aviation; Benjamin Matthews, administra­tive specialist for Garrison Center; Leah Sexton, academic adviser; Deanna Dennis, instructor/secondary math specialist; Catherine Lett, administra­tive specialist for Communicat­ion and Theatre Arts; and Beth Taggard, annual giving and special events coordinato­r.

Rogers was also recognized among recent retirees, along with Dorothy Newborn, business office, 30 years; Cathy Bell, business office, 26 years; and Deborah Coomer, business office, 16 years.

Henderson’s Staff Senate presented awards to Vickie Lowe, Standout Support Staff Award for Customer Service; Erin Poe, Staff Award for Diversity and Inclusion; Julie Cissell, Staff Award for Student Success; Catherine Lett, Staff Award of Excellence for third quarter; and Pam Ligon, Staff Award of Excellence for fourth quarter

Seven staff members recognized for earning degrees during the past year were Jan Bullock, Julie Cissell, Catie Lusby, Ryan Lusby, Tonia McBay, Patrick Shepard and Bret Vallun.
