LHHS honor grad interns with Naturals
SPRINGDALE — University of Arkansas-Fort Smith student Madison Hunt, a 2014 honor graduate of Lake Hamilton High School, was selected as a game day intern this summer for the Northwest Arkansas Naturals minor league baseball club.
Hunt is responsible for promotional events before, during and after Naturals’ games. Events include karaoke, kids camps and other activities.
“We partner with our sponsors to create an enjoyable and engaging environment for our fans by running games, organizing events, and passing out prizes,” Hunt said. “I love this internship because it has allowed me to get a glimpse of the fast-paced world of sports marketing and gain real-world experience through working with sponsors and meeting their expectations.”
After speaking with marketing professors about future career plans, Hunt was referred to Ron Orick, director of career services at UAFS, after she spoke to a marketing professor about her future career plans. She said she plans to pursue a career in sports marketing and hopes to one day work for the Kansas City Royals.
“This internship allows me to get a backstage pass in the Royals organization and obtain real-life experience in marketing,” Hunt said.
Hunt began at UAFS as a history major. She found her way to marketing through the encouragement of advisers and peers.

“The College of Business at UAFS is accredited by the (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) and has smaller classroom sizes than other schools,” Hunt said. “That’s why I chose to continue my education in Fort Smith.”
