Marion C. DuBose Jr.

Marion C. DuBose Jr., 80 years old, of Hot Springs Village, peacefully passed away at CHI St. Vincent’s on June 21,

2017.

He was born on March 27,

1937, in Washington, Ga. to Marion and Lucylle DuBose. He was a devoted husband to Rosetta Dubose for 59 years. To this union two children were born (Deena and Terrence).

He was employed for the United States Postal Service (USPS). After 36 years of service with the USPS, he retired as Postmaster of Janesville, Wis.

Following retirement, he moved to Hot Springs Village from Maywood, Ill. He resided in “The Village” for 23 years, and was known for his great sense of humor, quick wit and kind loving spirit.

His hobbies included an interest in model train railroadin­g and an annual holiday tree display.

He was very involved in community services. This extended to several organizati­ons including:

• MO/ARK Kiwanis – He served the MO/ARK Kiwanis Internatio­nal Board as District Governor and many positions at the District and Local levels.

• Optimist Internatio­nal – Through his membership with Optimist Internatio­nal he served in District and local positions.

• Jackson House – His concern for the less fortunate extended to his service on the Jackson House Board, an interfaith community crisis center.

• National Associatio­n of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) – He advocated for both active and federal employees on pay issues, health and retirement benefits.

• Cedar Mountain Singers – His involvemen­t with the Cedar Mountain Singers included performanc­e at several concerts a year.

• Village of United Methodist Church – Religion was very important to him as evidenced in his active involvemen­t in the mission of the church.

• Hot Springs Concert Associatio­n – As a member of this non-profit organizati­on he worked as a volunteer in numerous concerts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Lucylle DuBose. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife (Rosetta); daughter (Deena); son (Terrence); and two grandchild­ren (Terrence Jr. and Sharea Johnston). His siblings includes Connie DuBose (sister); Theresa DuBose (sister); Robert Saddler (brother-in-law); and a host of other family and friends.

Roy Edmonds

Roy Edmonds, 59, of Hot Springs, passed away June 21,

2017.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. Monday at Hot Springs Funeral Home with burial following at

Gene A. Fitch

Gene A. Fitch, 75, of Hot Springs, passed from this life on June 22, 2017. He was born in Phoenix, Ariz. to the late Arnold A. and Nellie M. Fitch on Oct. 19, 1941.

Gene enjoyed working hard, helping others and was a cattleman at heart. He was also a faithful Christian and enjoyed working as a youth group minister for a number of year.

Gene is survived by his wife, Carol Fitch; three children, Christy Fitch, Kenneth Fitch, Shawn Pemberton; nine grandchild­ren; eight great-grandchild­ren; one sister, Darlene Doubt; and a host of other family and friends. He is also preceded in death by his two brothers, Gerald and Ronald Fitch.

A family memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to A Natural State Funeral Service in Jacksonvil­le.

Leona M. Hipperson

Leona M. Hipperson, 84, of Hot Springs, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at her home after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born Dec. 9, 1932, in Portland, Ore. to the late Edgar and Clara Punzel, and as a believer in Jesus Christ is now a resident of Heaven.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Leora Biornstad.

Leona loved to sew and had a knack for interior decorating. She used that talent for many years working for the J.C. Penny drapery department. Her collection of over 1,000 cook books, antique dolls and plates is immeasurab­le. When Leona was young, she studied classical piano and she used that talent for many years while serving the Lord.

Don and Leona hosted countless foreign missionari­es as well as missionary students attending OBU in Arkadelphi­a. Leona served First Baptist Church faithfully, where she was a member of the Jordan Sunday school class.

Cherishing her memory are her husband of 45 years, Don Hipperson; four children, Carolyn Chapman, Debra Wright, Teresa Wright, and Christophe­r Wright; three brothers, Fred, Phillip, and Mark Punzel; three grandchild­ren, seven great-grandchild­ren; and other relatives and friends.

A celebratio­n of Leona’s life will be held 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 27, 2017, in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church-Hot Springs with Pastor John McCallum officiatin­g.

The family wishes to thank Arkansas Hospice and the team that aided Leona in her final days. A special thank you to Laurie Nash, neighbors Sylvia & Richard Wright and Wayne & Landra Roberts.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Associatio­n, ASPCA, or to First Baptist Church.

Fuji Horn

Fuji Horn, 89, of Hot Springs, passed away on Thursday, June

22, 2017. She was born on June

10, 1928, in Tokyo. She was a beautician and the owner of the Internatio­nal Beauty Salon for over 60 years. She was an avid bowler, loved bingo and going to Oaklawn Park. She was a member of the First Christian Church.

She was predecease­d by her husband, Harry Horn and a sister.

Survivors include her daughter, Melinda Horn; one brother of Japan; several nieces and nephews; and the Ladys Lunch Bunch.

Memorial services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the First Christian Church with Reverend Susan Miller officiatin­g.

James E. Jones

Lt. Col. James E. Jones, 88, of Hot Springs, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017, after a lengthy illness and a full life.

A visitation will be held at 1 p.m. today, with the service beginning at 2 p.m. at Twin Lakes Baptist Church, 3899 Hwy. 290, Hot Springs. Burial will follow in Gilchrist Cemetery in Friendship.

Shirley Lancaster

Our beloved mother, grandmothe­r and great-grandmothe­r, Shirley “Faye” Lancaster, age 75, of Norman, went to be with the Lord on the morning of Friday, June 23, 2017.

Her family rests assured that she was loved by God and a true friend of Jesus. She enjoyed reading her Bible and working crossword puzzles, but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, whom she dearly loved and was dearly loved in return. She will be forever missed and always in our hearts.

She was born July 6, 1941, in Clendenin, W.Va., the daughter of Lewis Lancaster and Irene Elizabeth Franklin Lancaster. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Jason Lancaster; and sisters, Jean Seabolt and Darlene Durham.

She leaves behind her children and their spouses, Tammie (Ted) Rotalsky, of Norman; Paul (Lisa) Hoffman, of Valrico, Florida, Ruth (Rob) Lowry of Leesburg, Va.; Waynie Hoffman of Hot Springs; and Eric (Christina) Richards of Jacksonvil­le, Fla; fourteen grandchild­ren; five great-grandchild­ren; one brother, Lewis (Shelba) Lancaster of Fairfield, Calif.; one sister, Phyllis Webb of Columbus, Ohio; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members; and a host of wonderful friends.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m Tuesday, June 27, 2017, in the Howton Cemetery with Bro. Bobby Lock officiatin­g.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Marise M. Paladino

Marise Morton Paladino, of Hot Springs, formerly of North Little Rock, died Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at home surrounded by her family.

A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church in Hot Springs at 2 p.m. Monday following a private burial. Rev. John McCallum will preside.

Pallbearer­s are Brian and Mark Patrick, Scott and Brian Burton, Keith Crowder and Jon LaFollette. Honorary pallbearer­s are Jo McBride and the members of the Bible Learners Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church, her precious caregivers and her caregivers from Kindred Hospice.

Ressie M. Hill Parker

Ressie Marie Hill Parker, age 96, of Hot Springs, died peacefully on Thursday, June 22, 2017.

Born December 2, 1920, to Richard and Bessie Turner Hill in Malvern. Ressie grew up in Hot Springs and attended Hot Springs schools; beauty college and Brian’s Business College. She married A.E. “Buster” Parker and they owned and operated Parker’s Orthopedic Shoe and Brace Company until her retirement.

A former member of American Legion Auxiliary and Hot Springs Chapter of Sweet Adelines, Ressie was a licensed beautician and attended the Nazarene Church. While her children were growing up, she taught a Sunday school class and was active in the Parent Teacher Associatio­n and Band Parents Associatio­n.

An accomplish­ed seamstress, Ressie especially enjoyed designing and making clothes for family members and for herself. She created many beautiful quilts as well.

Ressie is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters; and four brothers.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Parker, of Chico, Calif. and Mike Parker (Linda), of Hot Springs; and two daughters, Judi Lucero (Rudy), of Fort Collins, Colo., and Karla Parker, of Flagstaff, Ariz. Family and friends want to gratefully acknowledg­e many years of generous and loving care for her by her son, Mike, and his wife, Linda.

Grandchild­ren are Clay Lucero, Sr. (Amanda); Cyndi Esch (Chris); Alexander Parker (Erica); Alicia Lucero; Dylan Ashcroft; and Julia Ross. In addition, she is survived by four great-grandchild­ren Clay Lucero, Jr.; Isabelle Lucero; Madison Esch; and Levi Parker; several step-grandchild­ren; step-great-grandchild­ren; step-great-great-grandchild­ren; a sister-in-law, Betty Parker; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebratio­n of life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs, with Rev. Steve Butler officiatin­g.

Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until service time on Monday.

Honorary pallbearer­s will be Larry Hill, Randy Hill, Brian Hill, Robert Hill, Tam Parker, Tim Parker, J.B. Evans and Jim White.

Burial will be in the family plot in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Much appreciati­on goes to Dr. James Humphreys and staff for years of kindness and care, to Garland Nursing and Rehab Center for their assistance in recent months and to Arkansas Hospice.

Jack L. Sheehan Jr.

Jack Loren Sheehan, Jr., age 61, passed away June 18, 2017. He was born March 3, 1956, in San Pedro, Calif., to Jack and Sarah Oxford Sheehan. Jack is preceded in death by his father; daughter, Tiana White; and a nephew, Chris.

He is survived by his mother, Sarah Hughes; daughter, Aundrea Hosler-Benton; brothers, Bill and Tom Hughes; sister, Jodie Martin; grandchild, Riley Benton; aunt and uncle, Mary and Jim Ryan; cousins, James, David, Pam, Casey, Jamie, Candice, Jerrie, Pamela and David; nieces and nephews, Amanda, Meghan, Trent, Matthew and Millie; and numerous friends.

A celebratio­n of Jack’s life will be held 6 p.m. Wednesday, at the residence of Mary Ryan with Jim Hunt officiatin­g.

Frances C. Slater

Frances C. Slater, 89, of Royal, passed away Thursday, June

22, 2017. She was born December 20, 1927, to the late Clifton “Dick” & Ollie Robbins Thornton in Cedar Glades.

She was a graduate of Mountain Pine High School, worked for National Rejecters and was a member of Piney Baptist Church.

She was predecease­d by her parents; her husband of 55 years, Glendon Slater and son, Tracy Slater.

Survivors include her son Jimmy (Debbie) Slater; daughters, Debra (Doug) Garner, Gwen Ary; brother, Charles “Chuck” (Nancy) Thornton; sister-in-law’s, Cloie Kiser, Barbara Maxwell; six grandchild­ren; eleven great grandchild­ren and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 27,

2017, in Cunningham Cemetery, Royal, with David Smith officiatin­g.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time at Cunningham.

Pallbearer­s are her grandchild­ren.

Jeanne M. White

Jeanne M. White, 75, of Hot Springs, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 20, 2017. She was born in Shreveport, La., on Feb. 5, 1942, to the late Jack Melton, Mary Dell and Leo Banski.

Jeanne was proceeded in death by her very special friend David Leal.

She is survived by her son James M. “Matt” White IV (Melinda), of Russellvil­le; sisters, LeAnn Mascho (Bill), of Hot Springs, and Penny Caldwell, of Boise, Idaho; grandsons, Matthew and Gavin White; cousins, Melanie Cathey, Janna Manning, Jim Manning, (Sylvia), Michael Manning (Donna), and Chris Blakely; and her furry friends, Gingee, Daisy, and Gayley.

Jeanne was a proud graduate of the Hot Springs High School Class of 1960. She is a former president of the Women’s Chamber of Commerce, member of Emblem Club, and was a long time member of the Antique Dealers Associatio­n. She is best known for her long time involvemen­t with antiques and estate sales throughout the Hot Springs area. In addition, Jeanne spent well over 30 years working in insurance sales for numerous independen­t companies.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at the Pines Nursing and Rehab Center, the good folks at Kindred hospice, to Jeanne’s loyal friend Judy Mullins and her numerous other friends who supported her during her illness and throughout life.

A celebratio­n of Jeanne’s life will take place at Gross Funeral Home 6 p.m. Monday, June 26, with Pastor John McCallum officiatin­g. Visitation will take place one hour prior.
