A Hot Springs man was arrested Monday night after allegedly shoving his wife’s head through a window and choking her.

Donals Alton Hurst, 35, of

598 Elkhorn Loop, was taken into custody at his residence at around 7:49 p.m. Monday and charged with aggravated assault on a family or household member, a felony punishable by up to six years in prison. He remained in custody Tuesday in lieu of

$2,500 bond and is set to appear in Garland County District Court on July 11.

According to the affidavit, Garland County sheriff’s Deputy Elwood McConnell responded to a domestic call at Hurst’s residence, where he saw a white male standing on one side of the home and an adult white female standing with a white juvenile male and white juvenile female on the front porch. He also saw a broken window on the front side of the residence.

McConnell spoke to Hurst’s wife, who said she and Hurst had been drinking when he began swearing and calling her names.

She said Hurst then grabbed her, pushed her head through the front window and began choking her to the point where she couldn’t breathe. McConnell observed redness on the front and both sides of the victim’s neck.

McConnell then spoke with the juveniles, who both allegedly confirmed Hurst, their father, was choking their mother on the floor.
