Orval Eugene Cargill, 77, of Hot Springs, Ark., passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017, at CHI St. Vincent hospital in Hot Springs, Ark., after a long battle with heart disease.

He was born Oct. 14, 1939, in Sasakwa, Okla., to J.W. and Beulah Cargill (Davis). They preceded him in death, as well as his sister, Maxine Ferguson. He lived most of his life in Norman, Okla.; then retired from the Norman Fire Department to Hot Springs, Ark., where he lived for 34 years. He was a heart transplant recipient of which lasted 22 years. He was a

1957 graduate of Norman High School in Norman, Okla., and a

20-year retired firefighte­r with the Norman Fire Department.

Orval was a loving husband, father, grandfathe­r and great-grandfathe­r. A few of his favorite things to do were fishing, working on cars and just being outside and living on the lake. He was talented at building and fixing practicall­y anything.

Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Jeannette Cargill; son, Larry Cargill, of Norman, Okla.; daughters, Linda Wyatt and Chesley Wyatt (husband), of Norman, Okla., and Kimberlee McDougal and Bobby McDougal (husband), of Hot Springs, Ark.; grandchild­ren, Lara Cargill, Ashley Wyatt and Hayden McDougal; great-grandchild, Charlee Wells.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Steven Hutchins and all other nurses and doctors at Baptist Health in Little Rock, Ark., for their continued care and support throughout the years. The family also thanks the ER staff at CHI St. Vincent hospital.

A private family service was held.

In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons may be made to The Baptist Health Transplant Institute in Little Rock, Ark.
