Rain dates put in place for fireworks displays

- FROM STAFF REPORTS

Organizers of the free public fireworks displays set for Fourth of July weekend have devised plans in case of rain amid the threat of possible wet weather.

The National Weather Service forecast for tonight says that showers and thunderstorms are likely, with a 60-percent chance of precipitation. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

The annual fireworks display on Lake Hamilton is scheduled for today at dark.

In the event of rain, the rain-delay date and time for the display will be Sunday at dark.

The fireworks will be shot from barges stationed on Lake Hamilton on the east side of the Highway 7 causeway near the Clarion Hotel.

The fireworks will be synced with music this year on radio station 97.5 FM US97. Neal Gladner, sales manager for US97, arranged for the synchronized music. Visit Hot Springs will sponsor the free show.

Boaters who watch the display from the water are urged to keep a safe distance from the

launching area and to be aware of fellow boaters.
