HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — Roland Anthony “Ron” Breimayer, 86, formerly of Grand Rapids, Mich., passed away on June 19, 2017, in Hot Springs Village, where he had made his home since 2003.

A Mass of Resurrecti­on will take place 11 a.m. Saturday July

15, 2017, in the sanctuary of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at

295 Balearic Rd., Hot Springs Village, AR 71909. Interment and an informal reception in the church hall will follow the service.

Ron is preceded in death by his wife Virginia and sons Joel Richard and James Roland Breimayer, and he will be interred with Virginia and Joel on the grounds of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He is survived by seven loving children and their spouses, the children in birth order, including Bill (Gayle) Breimayer, Bob (Paty) Breimayer, Paul (Danielle) Breimayer, Ron (Connie) Breimayer, Beth Ann (Jack) Huffner, Tom Robinson and Dave Breimayer; thirteen grandchild­ren; nine great-grandchild­ren, his brother, Joe (Peggy) Breimayer; and sisters, Mary (Ron) Fredricks and Barbara Kline.

Ron was born in Belding, Mich., to Crystal and Ronald Breimayer, worked on the family farm while growing up, graduated from Belding High School in 1949 and from Ferris Institute (now Ferris State University) with a doctor of pharmacy degree in 1953. Ron was drafted into the Army and served in the medical corps until his discharge. On Jan. 2, 1954, he and Virginia Cecile Tazelaar, of Kent County, Mich., were married at Fort Meade in Maryland. Ron and Virginia returned to Michigan in 1956, where he practiced as a pharmacist, purchasing the Reilly Drug store at Fulton and Arthur streets in Grand Rapids and operating it until his retirement. In 2003, Ron, Virginia and their son Joel moved to Hot Springs Village.

Ron and Virginia raised eight sons and one daughter despite limited resources while being very active in the church and sponsoring a Vietnamese refugee family for a period of two years. Ron was also active with his sons in restoring cars and, together with Virginia, was a generous donor to a wide range of charities focused on helping those in need.
