DALLAS — Wayne Nicholson, a Hot Springs native, passed away June 26, 2017, at the age of 70, in Dallas.

Wayne attended Lakeside School where he was active in the band as a trumpet player. In high school and his first four years of college, he was Music Director at Lakeshore Heights Baptist Church.

Wayne received a BME from Ouachita Baptist and did postgrad work at University of Texas in Austin. After college he moved to California, where he grew to love the Sierra Nevada mountains and learned to fly. Besides flying and music, his passions were fishing, horse racing and computer programmin­g.

For the past several years, Wayne has lived in the Dallas area working as a second-tier U-verse support technician for AT&T.

Although a fan of classical music, he also loved plain, country humor — especially Jerry Clower.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Mary Nicholson. He is survived by a sister, Nita Redmond; three brothers, Edmon, Charles, and Glen Nicholson, and their families; an uncle, O.B. Nicholson; and many loving cousins and friends.

A visitation will be held at Gross Funeral Home from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday, with a memorial service to immediatel­y follow. Interment will take place at a graveside service at a later date.
