Wanda S. Carrouth

Wanda Sue Carrouth, age 67, of Hot Springs, died Thursday, July 6, 2017.

She was born on Sept. 27,

1949, in Little Rock, the daughter of Clyde Henry Ingle and Dorothy Earnestine Kerr Ingle. On Sept. 26, 1969, she married Donald “Don” Carrouth, who preceded her in death on Oct. 8,

2014. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Renee Carrouth; her parents; and one brother, Ray Ingle.

Wanda was a member of Hot Springs Baptist Church. She retired after working many years as a cosmetolog­ist.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Eric and Renae Carrouth and David and Lindsay Carrouth, all of Hot Springs; three grandchild­ren, Reagan Carrouth, Harrison Carrouth and Bailey Carrouth, all of Hot Springs; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Waylon and Connie Ingle, of Hardy, and Mary Ingle, of Little Rock; one sister and brother-in-law, Patsy and Jack Todd, of Benton; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Ron Albey, of Malvern.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs, with Brother G. Lynn Green, Brother J.O. Passman and Brother Doug Compton officiatin­g.

Interment will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Michael S. Efrid

Michael Shane Efrid, 53 of Hot Springs, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017, at the National Park Medical Center in Hot Springs.

He was born on June 20,

1964.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy Efrid, of seven years; two sisters; and two brothers.

A service will be held at a later date.

Cremation arrangemen­ts are entrusted to A Natural State Funeral Service in Jacksonvil­le.

Karen Goodman

Karen Goodman, 66, of Hot Springs, died at her residence on Monday, July 5, 2017.

She was born June 4, 1951, in Malvern, to the late Lee and Christine Brent Short.

Karen is pre-deceased by her daughter, Tracy Goodman Brown; and her sister, Brenda Joyner.

Survivors include her close friend, Ron Czarnecki, of Hot Springs; step-daughter, Kim Hicks; step-grandchild­ren, Lajoca Hicks, Hanna Hicks and Payton Hicks, all of Hot Springs; step-grandchild, Sharnae Thomas, of Siloam Springs; niece, Brandi Duke, of Malvern; and friend, Pat Greene, of Hot Springs.

A funeral Mass will be held at at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary of the Springs Catholic Church. Rosary will be at 10:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Mary of the Springs Church.

JoAnn McGriff

JoAnn McGriff, age 75, of Hot Springs, died Thursday, July 6, 2017.

She was born on Nov. 22, 1941, in Centrevill­e, Ala., to Robert Lester Thompson and Virginia Carson Boyd Thompson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Buddy McGriff; and her parents.

JoAnn was a homemaker who enjoyed fishing, gardening and loved animals. She also worked for St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Belinda and Daniel Lunsford; her son, Bobby McGriff, all of Hot Springs; three grandchild­ren, Samantha Meeks, Martin Meeks and Morgan Lunsford; a very special great-granddaugh­ter, Merina “Boo” Howard; all of Hot Springs; two sisters, Robbie Jean Cooper, of Napa Valley, Calif., and Sharon Virginia Mitchell, of Centrevill­e, Ala.; and her special friend, Charles Walker, of Hot Springs.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery, with Brother George Lynch officiatin­g.

Arrangemen­ts are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs.

Pallbearer­s will be Daniel Lunsford, Joel Frye, Tim Dixon, Barry Musgrave, Marvin White and Belinda Lunsford.

Honorary pallbearer­s will be the employees of Kroger on Airport Road and Evelyn and “V” of Hospice of Central Avenue.

Betty Meeks

Betty Meeks, 80, of Hot Springs, died Saturday, July 8, 2017.

Donnie E. Reid

MARSHALL — Donnie Ellis Reid, of Marshall, was relieved of all sorrow and pain at 2:22 p.m. on June 22, 2017.

He passed on through the Heavenly gates to join his loved ones who had gone before him, including his parents, Joe Dolphus and Betty Lois Reid; five brothers; six sisters; and the mother of his children, Mary Jane Hitt.

Donnie was born on Feb. 7, 1956, the youngest of Joe Dolphus and Betty Lois Reid’s children. Lois raised her children up in the Red Oak Missionary Baptist Church, where Donnie accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He grew up in Searcy County, where he spent his childhood hunting and fishing and swimming in the Buffalo River with his siblings, cousin Danny Kuykendall, and good friends Danny Earl Tilley and Stevie Jones.

At 16 years old, Donnie moved to Chicago, where he met and married Mary Jane Hitt. Donnie and Mary eventually settled in the community of Jessievill­e and raised their seven children. In the spring of 2016, Donnie became an ordained minister.

Donnie is survived by his seven children, Holly Robertson (Chris), Jessica Kirby (Bryan), Wendy Howerton (Matt Bishop), Angie Morrow (David), Donnie Troy Reid (Sherry), Trisha Tyler (Heath) and Garvin Todd Elliot Reid; and 19 grandchild­ren (Grace, Jillian, Annabel, Drake, Logan, Lauren, Kiley, Spencer, Cole, Kingston, Katelyn, Gracie, Bennett, Kamden, Adeline, Tristan, Cord, Silas and Keane). He is also survived by his brother, Jerry Reid (Phyllis); sistersin-law, Charlene Reid and Ila Reid; brothers-in-law, Danny Killins and Jim Nordurft; cousin, Danny

Kuykendall; and best friend, Danny Earl Tilley (Kathy).

We will celebrate Donnie’s victory in Jesus at 2 p.m. July 16, 2017, at Hamilton Church of God in Jessievill­e and again at 3 p.m. July 17 at Red Oak Missionary Baptist Church in Marshall. All are welcome to attend and a potluck dinner will follow both services.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Mandie Vaughn and the entire team at Dierksen Hospice for the comfort and care they provided during his final days.

Gladys McCollum Richusia, 95, of Hot Springs, died Friday, July 7, 2017.

Richard Shoemaker III, 61, of Hot Springs, rode off into the sunset, July 6, 2017.

He was born Feb. 8, 1954, to the late Susie Glendora Garrett Turner and J.C. Turner Sr. in Hot Springs.

Jackie was a retired Warehouse Manager with Pirelli Cable Corporatio­n; a Deacon of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, a member of Masonic Lodge 365 and a softball coach. He was predecease­d by his parents; his wife of 45 years, Teri Turner; one brother, J.C. Turner Jr.; three sisters, Glenda Isom, Mary Elizabeth Turner and Joyce Fisher.

Survivors include three daughters, Traci (Keith) Hill; Melissa (Keith) Bailey and Angela (Charlie Smallwood) Turner; two brothers, Jimmy Turner and Mike (Yen) Turner; one sister, Norma Turner; eight grandchild­ren, Ashton (John) Duck, Alek Hill, Keri Bailey, Ashley Bailey, Brian Bailey, Sidney Bailey, Marissa Turner and Hannah Dunn; four great-grandchild­ren, Anna-Marie Duck, Jace Duck, Amora Espinoza-Bailey and Aydan Bailey-Gamboa and his special companion Oopsie.

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. today at Hot Springs Funeral Home.

Service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Hot Springs Funeral Home, with Mace Robinson and Roger Reid officiatin­g. Masonic Rites by Masonic Lodge 365. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery in Jessievill­e.

Pallbearer­s are Jerry Turner, Michael Turner, Donnie Isom, Alek Hill, John Duck, Samuel Espinoza and Rick Qualls.

Honorary Pallbearer­s are Lonnie Oliver, Keith Blake, William Overturf and the Pennyman.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Dana Crutchfiel­d for taking such good care of Jackie and always making him smile, and to Rick Qualls for always helping.
