Rotarian of the Year Award presented
Outgoing President Gary Troutman presented The Steve A. Turner Rotarian of the Year Award to Jim Pate.
Pate has taken care of the club’s finances for the past 20 years. He brings a complete financial statement to each monthly board meeting, pays all the bills in a timely manner, sends the scholarship monies out each June and presents an annual budget that includes committee monetary requests.
“His honesty and integrity have never been in question as he lives the four-way test,” states the press release. He has served on the Imagination Library of the Ouachitas Board since the club founded its affiliate to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in Garland County years ago.
“Jim is a great example of ‘service above self’ and is an asset to
the Rotary Club of Hot Springs National Park,” continued the release.
HSNP Rotary Club is involved in the local and international community. A few of the activities include supporting a welcome luncheon for the incoming students at the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts, awarding more than $17,000 in scholarships to deserving graduating high school seniors, supporting the Garland County Imagination Library, helping with the Coats for Kids Drive, increasing awareness of Human Trafficking in Garland County, and maintaining the Rotary Welcome Garden at the intersection of Park, Whittington and Central avenues. The international activities supported by the Hot Springs National Park Rotary Club are joint efforts, such as providing needed equipment to the Christmas Island Humanitarian Project and Rotary’s Polio Eradication Project.
