Silvia Rowe

Silvia Rowe, age 88, of Hot Springs, died Thursday, July 27, 2017.

She was born May 7, 1929, in Kassel, Germany. Silvia married Sgt. Maj. Leon F. Rowe on Sept. 9, 1959. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; and her sister.

Silvia and Leon lived a traveling military life all around the world until his retirement in 1974, in Hot Springs. Silvia became a supervisor of housekeeping for the Majestic Hotel until she retired at the age of 72.

Silvia was known for her fabulous cooking and beautiful crochet, which she loved sharing with friends and family. Her home was open to anyone she could help. She was a member of the Edelweiss Club of Hot Springs and was a known face at Oktoberfest, enjoying the polka. In her later years, she frequented Oaklawn Racing and Gaming, because of her love of the ponies and new gaming.

Survivors include her sons, George Rowe (Kathy), of Broadway, Va., Roy Knauf, of Melsungen, Germany, and Ron Rowe (Cheryl), of Fort Worth, Texas; her grandchildren, Gretchen Rowe (Fred Chan-Lok), of Seal Beach, Calif., Jennifer Rowe and Katie Rowe of Harrisonburg, Va., Claire Rowe, of Fort Worth, Texas; and one great- grandchild, Addison Lee Glagola, of Harrisonburg, Va.; her nieces and nephew, Mary Alice “Doodles” Gall, Virginia Willingham, Ellen Buckley, Jimmy Gonzales; and special friend, Edith Terlecti.

A private memorial service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. She will be laid to rest with her husband of over 50 years.
