William H. Confer

William H. Confer, 95, of Hot Springs, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017.

He was born March 17, 1922, in Niagara Falls, N.Y., to Wallace and Theresa Confer. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II, retired from Union Carbide, and a member of St. Mary’s of the Springs Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Evelyn McCormick Confer; his son, Mark Confer; daughter, B.J. Confer; and second wife, Jean Braughton Confer.

Survivors include his son, Larry Braughton (Judy), of Olive Branch, Miss.; daughter, Sharron Schweer, of Hot Springs; four grandchildren, John Braughton (Stephanie), Jason Braughton, Kenny Schweer and Sheri Johnson (Jeff); seven great-grandchildren, Asher Braughton, Allison Braughton, Kaylin Braughton, Matthew Schweer, Ellie Schweer, Emma Kate Johnson and Karoline Johnson; niece, Margaret Penque, of Tonawanda, N.Y.; cousin, Virginia McInerney, of Niagara Falls, N.Y.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary of the Springs Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, celebrant will be Father Sanders. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery immediately following.

Serving as pallbearers are: Charles Smith, Jim Elser, Danny Elser, Bill Nipper, Larry Braughton and Kenny Schweer.
