Cutwell 4 Kids to host fourth annual Birth of an Artist fundraiser

-

Cutwell 4 Kids will host its fourth annual The Birth of an Artist fundraiser from 7-10 p.m. Aug. 12 at Emergent Arts, 341 Whittington Ave.

In addition to artwork from Cutwell’s emerging artists, the art sale will feature artist Shaun McNary, of Hot Springs, and will include local and statewide young and budding artists. Live entertainment will be provided by youth jazz band RockTown Jazz Squad with sound provided by Tim Anderson. Light hors d’oeuvres will be served.

C4K is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization for children 4-12 years old. This hands-on art program allows children to do what they do naturally — play — while gaining valuable learning skills. C4K’s youth-friendly environment is designed especially for children who are highly active and allows them to express themselves freely with paint. It is a scary thought for adults, but as artist and founder Anthony Tidwell said in a news release, “We are dedicated to providing a positive atmosphere for kids to express themselves with paint and that’s exactly what we do.”

Each Saturday, May through July, children meet at Tidwell’s studio to acquire and refine their art skills. Classes are free of charge. The studio resides in a renovated space that was formerly Tidwell’s grandparents’ barber and snack shop.

Proceeds from the fundraiser tickets sales will help C4K continue its mission in the community. Tickets are $20.
