Crater of Diamonds to host night photography program

-

MURFREESBORO — Crater of Diamonds State Park will host a night photography workshop from 7-9:30 p.m. Aug. 19.

Participants should have a working knowledge of manual DSLR camera settings, including shutter speed and aperture, wear comfortable walking shoes, and bring a DSLR camera, tripod, and flashlight. Point-and-shoot cameras will not be allowed.

Dark-colored clothing and a remote shutter release are helpful but not required. During the evening the basics of nighttime digital photography and light drawing will be discussed before going outside for hands-on practice.

There are countless subjects and settings to appreciate in photography, but one of the most fun and challenging is taking pictures at night. Night photography offers many opportunities for creative compositions and helps the photographer to better understand the relationship between lighting and timing.

Workshop cost is $20 per person, including a nonrefundable

$10 registration fee due by Aug.

11. The remaining $10 will be due at the visitor center on the day of the workshop. Space is limited. A minimum of three participants is required.
