Arkansas Arts Center partners with Kum & Go

-

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Arts Center has been awarded a grant from Kum & Go to support the Arkansas Artmobile, the Arkansas Arts Center’s “gallery on wheels.”

The Artmobile is a 40-foot, climate-controlled mobile art gallery that has traveled across Arkansas since the early 1960s. It is one of the nation’s few mobile art museums. The Artmobile served 11,470 visitors at 28 venues during the 2016-17 season, traveling to some of the most remote areas in Arkansas.

This unique gallery space features themed exhibitions of works from the Arkansas Arts Center’s permanent collection. Each year, works are carefully selected for their artistic integrity and educational value to be a part of the mobile exhibition. The gift from Kum & Go will support the upcoming artmobile exhibition, “A Feast for the Eyes,” which will travel around the state during the 2017-18 season.

“A Feast for the Eyes” presents a visual survey of the evolution of food from fuel to fine dining. The exhibition of works from the Arkansas Arts Center Collection offers a satisfying buffet of various artistic methods and techniques, all while exploring cultural traditions associated with food.

“The Arkansas Arts Center Artmobile is a visual reminder that art lives in communities,” said Todd Herman, executive director, in a news release. “By delivering a museum experience to all Arkansans, the Artmobile unites diverse demographics through the arts.”
