A Hot Springs man was arrested on felony charges Thursday morning after allegedly threatening three of his neighbors with a replica long rifle.

Freddie L. Sharpe, 61, of 133 Carson St., was taken into custody at his residence at around 11:45 a.m. and charged with four counts of first-degree terroristic threatening, punishable by up to six years in prison. He was later re- leased on a $10,000 bond and is set to appear in Garland County

District Court on Aug. 15.

According to the affidavit, at around 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Hot

Springs police Officer Zachary Brown responded to a disturbance at Sharpe’s residence and upon arrival noticed multiple people standing outside the residence and the residence next door.

Sharpe’s wife alleged one of the neighbors began shouting at her from across the street, accusing her of “calling code enforcement.” Sharpe then arrived on scene, exited his vehicle and began challenging the neighbor from the road. After the two continued to argue, Sharpe allegedly said, “I’ve got something for you,” and entered his residence. Sharpe then reportedly emerged with a replica long rifle that was “indistinguishable from a functioning antique lever-action rifle.”

According to three neighbors, Sharpe held the gun at “low ready” as he walked down the street toward them, and was reported to have said, “I’m gonna kill all you b - - - - - - - .” One neighbor ran toward Sharpe in defense of his 6-year-old daughter, who was standing in the front yard. He said Sharpe then returned to his yard and placed the gun out of sight.

A witness who saw the incident from his residence across the street told police he saw Sharpe approaching the victims with the rifle as they remained in the front yard of 128 Carson St. Another witness inside 128 Carson gave the same statement.
