Samuel T. Brasher

Samuel T. (Bill) Brasher, 94, of Hot Springs, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, August 4, 2017, with family present.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today, Aug. 10, 2017, at the Hot Springs Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, 2017, at the Hot Springs Funeral Home chapel. All that knew him, even just slightly, are invited to attend.

Interment will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug 14, 2017, in the Wheat family plot in Oakland Cemetery in Monticello, Ark.

Alfred Jack Burney

Alfred Jack Burney, Sr., age 82, of Hot Springs, passed away on, Wednesday, August 9, 2017. He was born December 12, 1934, to the late Alfred and Ann Burney.

Jack graduated from Little Rock High School. He was a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayettevil­le, where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and the director of Intramural Athletics.

Upon graduation he worked for Cities Service Oil Corporatio­n from 1957 to 1966. Jack later worked for Frank Lynn Company until he opened his own company, Burney-Neal Distributo­rs. After six years he sold Burney-Neal Distributo­rs and bought 555 Distributi­ng and Adcock Lighting. He was awarded numerous sales awards throughout his career.

Jack was a proud member of the Wilson Tigers and a lifelong supporter of the Arkansas Razorbacks. He was a member of the Broyles-Matthews Foundation, the Natural Park Rotary Club, Pacesetter­s Dancers Club and was a volunteer reader at Langston Elementary School. Jack was a charter member of Garvin Gardens, a life loyal Sigma Chi and a lifelong member of the University of Arkansas Alumni Associatio­n.

Jack is survived by his wife, Linda Burney; sons, Jack (Christy) Burney, Brad (Mary Catherine) Burney; daughter, Bitsi; stepdaught­ers, Michele (John) Nelson and Lainie (Bryan) Spence; grandchild­ren, Hayley (Jordan) Bradford, Jackson, Erin, Blake and Wesley Burney, Preston Pyron, Georgia and Jack Nelson and Sheffield Spence.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017, at St Luke Episcopal Church, 228 Spring Street, Hot Springs, Ark. 71901, with a reception to follow. Memorials are requested to the church.

Mary Deain, 87, of Hot Springs Village, passed away August 7, 2017.

Loretta Goss, 75, went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 7, 2017.

Gary Robert Harston, 56, of Albion, Mich., passed away August 7, 2017. He was born March 22, 1961, in Little Rock, Ark. to James and Sue Harston.

Survivors include his parents; children, Amy Lee Harston, Jerome Miles; brothers, James, Jr., Michelle, Perry and Patty Harston; and grandchild­ren, Stephanie, Anthony, Lucas and Skylar.

Charles S. Hobgood

Charles S. Hobgood, 71, of Malvern, passed August 9, 2017. Born February 25, 1946, in Gurdon, Ark., to Norman E. Hobgood and Muriel (Jester) Hobgood.

Member of the Pentecosta­l Church. Worked at General Cable. He was predecease­d by his parents.

Survivors: daughter, Kimberley George (Rusty); brother, Eugene Hobgood (Carmen); sister, Geneva McDaniel (Bill); grandchild­ren, Jonathan George (Savannah), Emmafaith George and nieces, Eujeanie Luker (Kurt), Ursula Schaerer (Michael) and Angela Thomason (Darrell).

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. August 11, 2017, at Regency Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. August 12, 2017, at Apostolic Faith Tabernacle with Rev. Dennis Anderson officiatin­g.

Dorothy Longinotti, 92, of Hot Springs, passed away Monday, August 7, 2017.

Service will be held 10 a.m. today, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with a Rosary at 9:30 a.m. before service time.

Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Wendy Lumsden

Wendy Lumsden, 88, of Hot Springs, passed away at National Park Medical Center on July

29, 2017. She was born August

20, 1928, to Rupert and Lillian Bromley in Manchester, England.

She had three brothers, Rupert, Reggie and Bernard and sister, Dorothy. All of her brothers served their country during World War II.

Wendy met Kenneth D. Lumsden, a Canadian merchant seaman, near the end of the war. They were married by the Captain of his ship, SS Montreal City, on December 12, 1947.

After his discharge, they moved to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. They were blessed with two daughters, Carol Lynn and Beverly Ann. In 1965 the family moved to Florida and lived in North Lauderdale until Kenneth (Bud) passed away in 2015. Wendy then moved to Hot Springs and lived in the Brookfield Memory Center until her death.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol and son-in-law, Jim Hannon. Also left to cherish her memory are her grandchild­ren, Michelle Gallo (Michael), Brenda Atkins (Matthew), Kelly Richardson (Drew) and Shawn Saunders; great grandchild­ren, Anna and Caroline Gallo and Riley and Peyton Atkins.

As she wished, Wendy’s remains were cremated and the family will have a private memorial service at a later date.

Eddie Lee McAfee

Eddie Lee “Dock” McAfee, 66, passed away on July 27, 2017. He began his earthly journey on January 8, 1951, in Clarksdale, Miss., the 7th and youngest child born to John Wesley and Ella Lee McAfee.

In the early 1960’s, his family moved to Hot Springs, Ark. where he met Mildred Hunter, whom he married in 1971. After serving two years in the Army they relocated to Louisville, Ky.

From their union Eddie T. (Pookey) and Ebony (Peaches) were born.

To provide for his family he worked for over 20 years at MSD (Metropolit­an Sewer District).

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley and Ella Lee McAfee, and two brothers, Willie and Robert Joe McAfee.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Hunter McAfee; son, Eddie T (Leia); daughter, Ebony (Larry Williams), all of Louisville, Ky.; sisters, Lula McAfee of Hot Springs, Ark. and Hattie Major of Kansas City, Kan.; brother, John (Evelyn) McAfee of Tacoma, Wash.; sister-in-law, Marilyn (John) Evans of Louisville,Ky.; grandchild­ren, Marquis, Brittany, Se’Voy, Se’Von, Mi’Aungilah, Ti’Jan, Kendrick and Ken’nadi and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held on Friday, August 4, 2017, in Louisville, Ky. with interment in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, Radcliff, Ky.

Jeanne Sweet, age 94, of Hot Springs, died Tuesday, August

8, 2017.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, August

13, 2017, at the Oaklawn United Methodist Church with Bro. Russ Breshears officiatin­g.
