Police ID shooting suspect
Hot Springs police have identified Lindaniel West, 39, of Hot Springs, as a suspect in Monday’s fatal shooting of a local man at the Valero gas station, 1201 Central Ave.
West, who is described as black, 5 feet, 9 inches, and
240 pounds, is being sought on a warrant for capital murder, a felony punishable by up to life in prison or the death penalty.
A news release said
West should be considered “armed and dangerous” and anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact police at 501-321-6789.
West is wanted for the shooting death of Derek A. Duvall, 29, which occurred shortly before 9 p.m. Monday at the Valero at the intersection
of Grand and Central avenues. Duvall was shot once in the chest near the gas pumps and reportedly ran toward the rear of the parking lot, collapsing near two cars parked against the brick wall on the lot’s southern perimeter.
Officers who responded to the shooting administered CPR until LifeNet personnel arrived and continued the CPR efforts, but Duvall could not be resuscitated and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said at the time they were following up on multiple leads and interviewing witnesses, but Friday’s release did not indicate a motive for the shooting or how detectives determined West was involved.
Duvall’s death is the fourth homicide in the city of Hot Springs in 2017.
