Oak Hill MBC celebrates 114th anniversar­y

The public is welcome to the 114th anniversar­y of Oak Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 532 Danville Road. Sunday school begins at 9:45 a.m. with worship at 10:45 a.m. Brother Sam Ault, pastor, will bring the message.

A potluck lunch will be served afterward.

At 1 p.m., music will be provided by Junction Five, the featured singing group who will also take part in the morning worship hour. This group is from the Fountain Lake community. The singing will conclude the services, there will be no night service.

Morning Star Missionary celebrates homecoming

The public is welcome to a homecoming celebratio­n at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 2539 Spring St., on Sunday. Refreshmen­ts will be served and music will be provided by The Garrett Sisters.

Ice cream social at Roanoke Baptist

Roanoke Baptist Church, 315 Whittingto­n Ave., will host a free ice cream social and community showcase from 11 a.m. to noon today.

Friends and Family Day at St. Mark Baptist

St. Mark Baptist Church, 542 Crescent Ave., will observe its annual Friends and Family Day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The theme is “Let us do good unto all mankind, especially the household of faith.” Guests will include Rev. D. E. Jones and Union Baptist Church. The event is open to the public.

St. Phillips COGIC celebrates 80 years

St. Phillips Church of God in Christ, 237 Walnut St., will celebrate its 80th church anniversar­y

at 3 p.m. Sunday. Aaron Gordon, pastor of Angel Gabriel COGIC, will be the guest speaker. The theme will be “Running the Race.” The event is open to the public.

Rock Springs Baptist celebrates homecoming

Rock Springs Baptist Church, 1026 Rock Springs Rd., will celebrate a homecoming with singing and worship service from 9:45 a.m. to noon Sunday, followed by a potluck lunch. After lunch The McNeills will sing from 1-3 p.m. The event is open to the public.

WVNA monthly meeting scheduled for Monday

The next monthly meeting of the Whittingto­n Valley Neighborho­od Associatio­n will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday at First Presbyteri­an Church, 213 Whittingto­n Ave. Topics to be discussed will include updates on ongoing revitaliza­tion efforts in the Valley.
