Jewelry workshop planned
MURFREESBORO — A hands-on workshop that teaches the basics of free-form wire-wrapped jewelry will be held at Crater of Diamonds State Park’s Diamond Discovery Center from 2-4 p.m. Sept. 23.
Freeform wire wrapping requires few tools, and many types of stones can be used, including some found at the Crater of Diamonds. With no strict patterns or guidelines, free-form artisans can create a variety of styles.
The workshop will begin with a discussion of essential wire-wrapping tools and materials, and participants will make their own free-form jewelry with practice wire and stones. Each participant will receive wire, instructions and tools to get started.
The cost is $30 per person, including a $15 registration fee due by Sept. 8. The remaining $15 will be due on the day of the workshop. Space is limited, and a minimum of four participants is required to hold the workshop. Participants must be at least 13 years old. Call Crater of Diamonds State Park at 870-2853113 by Sept. 8 to register. The park was last plowed July 26.
