Ex-Razorbacks to honor Broyles in Walton Arena
Former coaches, players and administrators will help pay tribute in a celebration of life for Frank Broyles at 2 p.m. Saturday at Walton Arena in Fayetteville.
The ceremony is open to the public with gates opening at 12:30 p.m. and attendees asked to use the arena’s north, south or west entrance.
No professional video or photography equipment will be permitted. No concessions will be available, although attendees may bring a bottle of water into the arena. Water fountains are available on the Walton Arena concourse.
Free public parking will be available in lots surrounding Walton Arena, including Lot 56 on the corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Razorback and Stadium roads, on a first-come, first-served basis with the exception of reserved lots 56D, 62, 64A and AD. Those with an ADA parking pass may use lot 60 and the south entrance.
Former Razorback football player and Dallas Cowboys CEO Jerry Jones will join other former Razorbacks Ken Hatfield and Quinn Grovey, along with University of Arkansas Chancellor Emeritus Dan Ferritor and Broyles’ oldest son, Jack Broyles, in paying tribute to the Razorback legend. The Singing Men of Arkansas will perform and a tribute video will be shown.
Former Razorback David Bazzel will emcee the celebration, which will be streamed live on the Watch-ESPN App and may be accessed through ArkansasRazorbacks.com.
Broyles died Monday in Fayetteville at age 92. He spent more than a half century serving the University of Arkansas as a football coach
(1958-76), athletics director
(1973-2007) and goodwill ambassador. He was preceded in death by wife Barbara, with whom he had four sons and two daughters. Survivors include his second wife, Gen Whitehead Broyles.
