A Hot Springs woman was arrested Thursday morning after allegedly stabbing her boyfriend during an altercation.

Gwendolyn Renee Carrigan, 28, of 631 Second St., was taken into custody at around 8:45 a.m. Thursday and charged with a felony count of second-degree domestic battery, punishable by up to 10 years in prison. She remained in custody Friday on zero bond and is set to appear in Garland

County District Court Aug. 29.

According to the affidavit, shortly after 8 a.m., Hot Springs police officers responded to Carrigan’s residence in reference to a stabbing. Officers found the victim sitting on a toilet in one of the residence’s bathrooms. Carrigan was standing next to him, holding a towel covering a 1-inch stab wound to his side.

Carrigan reportedly admitted to police she had cut Johnson. Officers subsequently located a folding knife with a 3-inch blade. Carrigan was taken into custody and the victim was transported to CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs for medical treatment.

Carrigan reportedly told Detective Mark Fallis she and the victim have been dating for about 10 years and they currently live together in the residence where the stabbing took place. She said they got into a fight, which became physical when she started throwing items at his head.

At one point, she said she removed a knife from her pants pocket and stabbed him to get him away from her.
